Spiritual Sundays ~ Sunday Seven

1. I’m praising God for answered prayer. I asked Him to send our office a buyer so that we can start the year off with a sale. We have four sales! 2. When I was in San Diego two weeks ago, my 95-year-old mother called us with stomach pain and thought she would have to go to the hospital. We prayed and the Lord healed her. We praise Him! 3. I’m praising God for the extra time I’ve had to be with my daughter and granddaughter. We have enjoyed a long visit since the holidays and they just left for home a few days ago. 4. I’m grateful for God’s protection. He kept us safe as we made the trip to San Diego and then back to Arizona as well as their final trip home again. 5. Laughter is medicine for the soul. I laugh at myself when I think of all the silly songs I’ve been singing with my granddaughter that I re-learned at her library story time. And the Hokey-Pokey…I’m getting good at it. 6. Praise God for encouraging us with all we learn about Him in trials. I was able to encourage a clien

Spiritual Sundays - Religious Freedom

When I linked up to Spiritual Sundays , I noticed Charlotte's mention of tomorrow being a Sunday that we celebrate religious freedom. Remember Alabama Judge Roy Moore? He was removed from the bench by the ACLU because he refused to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall. Now they are trying to strip his right to practice law. Some say that he wrote this poem. My research shows that may be true, but also that he quotes it in his speeches. America, the beautiful?, or so you used to be. Land of the Pilgrims' pride; I'm glad they'll never see. Babies piled in dumpsters, Abortion on demand, Oh, sweet land of liberty; your house is on the sand. Our children wander aimlessly poisoned by cocaine choosing to indulge their lusts, when God has said abstain From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns away From the teaching of God's love and a need to always pray We've kept God in our temples, how callous we have grown. When earth is but His footstool, and He

Friday Funnies - Speed

A doctor goes out and buys the best car on the market, a brand new Ferrari GTO. It is also the most expensive car in the world, and it costs him $500,000. He takes it out for a spin and stops at a red light. An old man on a Moped, looking about 100 years old, pulls up next to him. The old man looks over at the sleek shiny car and asks, "What kind of car ya got there, sonny?" The doctor replies, "A Ferrari GTO. It cost half a million dollars!" "That's a lot of money," says the old man. "Why does it cost so much?" "Because this car can do up to 250 miles an hour!" states the doctor proudly. The Moped driver asks, "Mind if I take a look inside?" "No problem," replies the doctor. So the old man pokes his head in the window and looks around. Then, sitting back on his Moped, the old man says, "That's a pretty nice car, all right... but I'll stick with my Moped!" Just then the light changes, so th

Celebrating!

We are celebrating our youngest daughter's birthday today. We are praising God for Carrie and asking Him for His protection, His direction and His blessings on her life. Carrie is an amazing woman with a will of steel. She is an excellent mom and a seeker of God's truth and wisdom. We know He has a great future in store for her. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, Plans to give you hope and a future." Jer. 29:11 Happy birthday, Carrie!

The Best Route

No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening. It's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. Hebrews 12:11 My husband got a new GPS and I like it much better than his old one. Now when we make the wrong turn, the classy English voice says: "alternate route" one time. This is so much easier to take than hearing "off course" repeatedly! Discipline is one of those topics that feels like the "off course" reprimand. This is not God's intent. He is so much more loving than a human. I know He disciplines in love regardless of how it feels at the time. I don't always realize when I'm off course. Not only does He get me back on track, but His process trains me for holiness. I'm remembering that when He disciplines one of His children, three things happen: 1. It's painful temporarily. 2. A blessing is promised from it. 3. In the end, it leads to a purpose! Spir

Looking Ahead to the New Year

The past year was a difficult one with many afflictions and challenges. Last January, God gave me a word to hold me through it all...trust! Psalm 116 says "He heard my cry for help; I called on His Name and He rescued me because He's full of compassion." Thank you, dear friends for your awesome friendship and prayers. You have been there in fun times and when the tears fell, too. You've reminded me to trust God. Several weeks ago, the Lord spoke a word of direction for me in 2011. That word is love. On to more growth for me this coming year! As a follower of Jesus, my love walk was challenged when I met an unbeliever who has reason to hate those who have abused, abandoned and hurt her. Yet she never speaks ugly about them. Joyce Meyer says: "You need to see that if you practice God's 'love walk,' you not only grow yourself, but you enable others to grow. The devil can't do you much harm if you truly walk in loving relationship with others." 9
