Sending Big Hugs

Do you want justice?
Don't fawn on the judge
But, ask the Lord for it!
Prov 29:26

Praise God for His mercy and justice. We continue to thank Him for His faithfulness and provision. We know He is with us and He has lead us powerfully by His Holy Spirit. This past year has been an amazing one to learn how much the Lord Jesus loves us. I know that I am different because of it.

If I could have my way, I would hug you close, dear friends, in person for all the love and support you have shown to me and my family. I know that your greatest joy is simply serving the Lord, but let me share with you the amazing touch on our lives because of your powerful intercession:

  1. We have grown so close to God and have learned powerful spiritual lessons.
  2. Carrie received wisdom especially in her court case.
  3. Protection!
  4. Financial breakthrough!
  5. Carrie found a cute place to live while ordered to stay in San Diego for the next year. It will be a great place to heal and grow spiritually.
  6. The church Carrie attends, The Rock of San Diego, is amazing. The teachings and worship is powerful. The leaders have rallied around her and provided help in moving. Several leaders continue to call making sure she is okay and the ladies in the Women's Ministry have written to her inviting her for coffee and a listening ear.
  7. Many opportunities to share the gospel.

I could go on and on, my friends. You are His hands and feet and we feel the presence of the Lord all around us. Carrie and I love to pray for you and we ask God to shower you with blessings.

The spiritual warfare continues. I read this morning in Gal 5:11, "the fact that I am still being persecuted proves that I am still preaching salvation through faith in the cross of Christ alone!".

I am so glad to be on this journey with you. I send you my love! I will be in San Diego this week helping with getting settled in and hope to visit your blogs whenever I can get a few minutes.

  8. Soo glad to hear from you sister Mary. And thankful to the Lord for everything He does to all of us, but most especially for sister Carrie and your beautiful granddaughter at this trying times. Continuing to lift you up in prayers. And I'm glad I'm walking with you in this difficult trek we're in. The road is narrow but it's tolerable with every step knowing I have mighty friends/family in Christ walking side by side with me. I'm so blessed. God bless you all richly and to God be the glory! Love you sister Mary.

  14. Hi Mary! Thanks for coming over and saying hi at Pom Pom's Ponderings. I am a dingy woman. I had JUST read your post when I began to write my latest post and I wanted to put Piles of Smiles in my blog story tribute. I added you in. Please forgive me for having such a darting around brain. You DO tell encouraging stories and your readers are blessed.

  15. Hi Mary! Okay, I fixed that crazy font on my last post and said some different stuff. Thanks for letting me know right away how messed up it was. It's taken me until now to try to fix it. It wasn't a crazy story, just wrong font that wouldn't show up right on a PC. Have a lovely weekend.

  16. God's hand is all over this, isn't it, Mary? It just blesses me mightily to witness how sturdy is Carrie's faith, and yours. And what's not to applaud in that little one's smile?

I'm so glad you've been able to spend time in San Diego. It must be an immense blessing for Carrie, and a great comfort for you.

    Thanks for keeping us posted!

    Kathleen

P.S. I'm hoping we can have ONE more lunch in Prescott before I head out of AZ on July 24. God willing ...

Book Review of Biblical Minimalism and Give Away

What does minimizing look like?  To the empty nester it may mean downsizing real estate.  To the co-dependent, it may mean pitching some toxic friendships they tend to collect.  I thought I had a handle on Biblical minimalism, but I wasn’t even close.  Biblical minimalism is much more than cleaning out a drawer and discarding unwanted things into a box to take to the thrift store. In her book, Biblical Minimalism, Cheryl E. Smith defines Biblical minimalism as “a complete, whole person release of anything unlike Jesus, a letting go of everything that hinders us from following Him wholeheartedly and single- mindedly , and a relinquishing of all that brings us under bondage to this earthly, very temporary life.” The author gives us a visual of a whole pie that is divided into eight slices.  Each slice describes our lives with areas to analyze to see if pruning or adjustment is needed.  I won’t name them all, but one example is the “emotional ...

Mama's Lipstick

I always wished I could do things with my mom like shop in the mall, share makeup secrets or go to the movies and watch romantic comedies.  My wish never materialized.     My mama behaved like a tomboy.   She loved baseball and pitched with a strong right arm.   She could care less about the latest fashion or the latest movies featured on the big screen.   She never polished her fingernails.    One day after elementary school, I walked into the house to find my mom all dolled up in front of the bathroom mirror, foundation crème, powder, eyebrow pencil and rouge all over the counter sink.  “Who are you?” I asked, thrilled to see my mama putting on the Ritz.  Makeup in place and blotted, she immediately took it off.  “I don’t like the way it feels,” she exclaimed. She retired in Arizona and protected her dry lips with a light rose lipstick, the color of natural lips, a step above ChapStick.  She wore it a few tim...

Abba's Lap

I noticed a behavior pattern in little Amy, twenty months old, that I want to imitate.  She moves fast engaging in one toddler activity after another spinning like a whirlwind from one room to another.  Yet, she pauses,  intermittently , long enough to get refreshed.   I want to be like this grandchild of mine because she knows where to go and how to get comforted. Amy moves at record speed, putting more miles on a pedometer in one hour than my accumulated weekly workouts at the gym.  She can build a skyscraper so tall, I wonder why those bright pink Lego’s don’t topple to the ground as she continues to stack just one more piece on top. I learned never to leave the room to get another cup of coffee.  Once, when I returned, I found her climbing past the couch with hands and feet reaching for the living room drapes. She has a consistent habit that I admire.  In the midst of her activities, as she moves robustly from one play...
