God Created Me!

Today is not only the last day of January, it’s my birthday.  You’re invited to my party!  I’ve got cake, ice cream, presents, and some inspiration about getting older!  Join me for some smiles.

“Old people should not eat health food.
They need all the preservatives they can get!”
Robert Orben

“As a graduate of Zsa Zsa Gabor
School of Mathematics,
I honestly do not know how old I am.”
Erma Bombeck

Why did Mattel choose “curvy” Barbie to hit the shelves today, on my birthday?

Sookie designed a birthday card depicting me in blue skies, with the sun shining.  I look like I’m singing and the grass is very green, just sayin’.

Leave it to kids to boost our self esteem.  Hope my granddaughter will always think I’m budafull.

The family party filled my love tank to full.  They chose my favorite: white cake with white frosting!  I know, b.o.r.i.n.g.  It’s what I like; correct me if I’m wrong, but I think white on white is still what’s really in right now.

My creative girlfriend, Kay, sent me a new mouse pad she designed.  Isn’t it cute?

I received a great gift: a makeover at the salon!  Before I drove there, I distinctly heard in my spirit that I should stop apologizing for my hair.  Christine is the stylist that was chosen for me because my family dared me to change and she is the creative one.  The girl is a kick.  I told her she can do anything she wants with my hair except color it purple or pink.  “Leave it to the professionals,” I always say.  I like it!   There are different colors in my hair, mostly warm browns and light highlights.  When I got home, Tom hated the way she styled it and told me if I wear it like that, he will shave his head.  Our men are funny that way; they like us the way we are.  That’s it.

I don’t think I’m the only one who wishes I had better hair, or more talent, and so on!  I think I should say what God says about me.  I think you should too!

Here’s where we get into the party groove.  As we should!  We’ve been wonderfully and fearfully made!

Let’s Make Some Declarations for a Spiritual Makeover Today!

You made me; you created me.  Now give me the sense to follow your commands.  Psalm 119:73

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!  Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.  You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.  Psalm 139:14,15

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.  They cannot be numbered.  I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!  And when I wake up, you are still with me!  Psalm 139:17,18

We know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.  Romans 5:5

I feel better about myself already; how about you?  God loves us.  He thinks we’re all budafull!

  3. You know me...I always leave a "short comment" ;) :)

I asked my hubby if he needed to do any as I logged on again. He said, "No!" with a big laughter and a big apology!

Long story short, I was leaving a comment on your site earlier with your last post and was just so touched with the story you shared about someone blessing a "good mom" who had a hard time with her kid... He accidentally shut down the computer and cut short my visit to my "awesome sis!"

Anyhow...I told him just now, maybe that was meant to happen and thank God for reminding me about being "slow" to anger, because now you just posted and what a wonderful chance to greet you a Happy Happy Birthday! Your granddaughter has grown so much and is so awesome like her wonderful grandma!

May you have Spirit-filled long and more years. Glad your heart is open to take a risk and welcome a change. Though the hubby knows "you're perfect the way you are!" Like what our good Father is saying each day about you. Take care sister Mary. Never tire (reading my long comment)...I mean, doing good!!! Love you sister in Christ. Hugs.

  12. Hi Mary! Happy Birthday Mary!! I'm so glad that you were celebrated so well. I loved the card your little one made for you, you are beautiful!
I think my husband would have reacted the same way as yours did to a 'makeover'. I was on my way to get my hair colored, and he literally stopped me at the door. Long story short, no hair color for me!

I'm so happy for you and your celebration. You are a wonderful reason to sing in the fields, remembering that you are God's chosen one. If that's not a reason to sing, I don't know what is!
Many blessings on your new year :)

He loved you so much that He did not design anyone else in the whole world like you! You are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Master Designer Himself! 17. Well, friend, a belated Happy Birthday! And I'd have to agree, you've never looked more budafull! As for cake, does it really matter what color it is? It's all gooood!!

I had to laugh about your hair. My hair is long, and once I had my stylist trim a whole inch off, instead of just 1/2 an inch. My hubby noticed right away. Yes, our men like us a certain way. Should we shake up their world sometime by wearing a wig?? Naw, that would be cruel.

Mary, you are a delight! And I love the way God made you. He made each one of us unique, for a predetermined purpose in His Kingdom. Let's embrace all that that means!!

    GOD BLESS!

So wonderful that you're surrounded by loving family that adores you. What a blessing! Glad you're counting them.

Oh, and the birthday hair looks good too!

Praying blessings upon you and yours, sister. And thanks for the heart warming post.

  19. Happy birthday! That looks like so much fun. And I love white on white too. Actually all colours of cakes are fine except the cheese kind. A little shake-up in the hair department can give us a fresh perspective, I think! I started putting in a pink stripe in my hair last October for Breast Cancer month, and have kept it. Pretty sure I won't go all pink though...but you never can say never!

Because He Lives, I Can Move

I’m currently in one of those places where you lay out all the options and then you make the best decision. It seems, however, like none of the choices are fair or attractive. I know God will help me in my situation because I desire His guidance. I’m clinging to His Word which promises that ALL things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose, Romans 8:28. I heard a great teaching this week about seeking God’s will and all the freedom that surrender brings. We can know that God is bringing about a victory if we trust Him with each and every decision. The speaker illustrated his point with a famous painting. The painting depicts a look of despair on the chess player’s face. He’s playing Satan and his soul is at stake. It looks like Satan is winning. Checkmate! When Paul Morphy saw this painting back in the 1800’s, he set up a chess board and aligned the pieces to reflect the painting. Being a world champion, he studied the board. His conclusi

Humor for the Bride and Groom

A young couple decided to wed.  As the big day approached, they grew apprehensive.  Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. The Groom-to-be, overcoming his fear, decided to ask his father for advice.   "Father," he said, "I am deeply concerned about the success of my marriage."  His father replied, "Don't you love this girl?"   "Oh yes, very much," he said," but you see, I have very smelly feet, and I'm afraid that my fiancé will be put off by them."  "No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed."   Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. The bride-to-be, overcoming her fear, decided to take her problem up with her mom."  Mom," she said, "When I wake up in the morning my breath is truly awful."  "Honey," her mother consoled, "everyone has

A Veteran's Story

I noticed Bill sitting in our local park where I walk.   He glanced my way just as I finished the last exercise walk song on my playlist.   He shouted and pointed to my car:   “Hey, is that your car with the Nam front license plate?   I stepped closer into the veranda where Bill sat on a picnic bench.   I noticed his Vietnam Vet cap and instantly I knew why I walked there that day.   The Marine Vet served during the 1960’s, the same time span as my husband.   Bill talked a lot about the war evoking my emotions from laughter to tears.   My South Vietnam front plate often prompts a conversation with a stranger and I’ve learned a deep respect for it over the years.   It is my way of listening to a veteran.   I enjoyed listening to Bill.   He made me laugh in spots but he made me cry as well.   Like when he talked about the sandwich lady.   “Do you ever eat at the sandwich shop in the gas station down the street?”   I replied that I’ve order coffee once in that place with a turke
