“I wasn’t worried when I rode in the
ambulance because I knew you were praying for me.” These are the words my husband whispered to me after facing a medical crises a few weeks ago.
Complications
set in a few days after Tom’s surgeon performed a procedure at the
hospital. He returned home, but lost so much blood due
to an artery punctured during surgery. His
blood pressure dropped to 79/49 and we headed to the ER at the VA in Prescott
where they then transferred him by ambulance to the civilian hospital and
surgeon who performed the surgery. It turned out to be an easy fix, but if he had
waited a few more hours he would not have survived.
Terrific
blessings came our way. I can’t wait to
list them all because every time I think of that week in October, I want to cry.
My heart is full of thanksgiving.
*Tom
received immediate care in both emergency rooms without a wait! He was given the best treatment and a comfortable
room with a view!
*Our
kids were able to express their love to their dad and it was a beautiful thing
to see. It’s easy to take people for
granted when every day is the same.
*Amy,
with her medical expertise, provided the best care for her dad by his side in
the hospital and at home as well. We
must have thanked her a thousand times.
*We
were grateful for the support and love from friends and family. I smiled at every text, phone call, email, gift,
card, and comment left for us encouraging us through prayer. Within minutes of the kids’ posts on social
media, our friends and our churches rallied around us offering to help and
pray. With a prayer army the size of
ours, I relaxed.
*Our
bonus daughter, Angie, came with our bonus grandson, off for fall break, and
stayed the week with me. We are thankful
for the sacrifice she made after just getting out of the hospital herself. She’s upbeat and loving and our time of
sharing and praying was outstanding. Her
chili, cornbread and chicken soup recipes filled my house with delicious aroma
as we welcomed Tom home. It was
enjoyable to once again have the rooms in my home active with family, cooking,
baking and video game races blasting from the T.V.
Life Is Good Again
It
could have been a disaster, but it turned around to be the biggest blessing! We thank God for all of it as we enter into
the Thanksgiving Season.
We’ve
been staying close to home as Tom still tires easily. I got
a little cabin fever a few days ago and took a walk around our neighborhood,
visiting with neighbors and absorbing the beauty of simple country. I’ll close with a few photos I particularly
love about where I live.
Oh, what can I say? I was si frightened when I read Angie's post on Facebook. (I think it was Angie!) Now I've tears all over again, hearing 'the rest of the story.' What blessings! Hugs to you both!
ReplyDeleteIt's a jump start into the thankfulness of this season for us! Hugs back to you!

DeleteSuch beautiful pictures you shared here and love your new header picture!! So thankful of God's provision over your husband, you and your family during this "hiccup" in your hubby's health. Glad it seems like he is on his way to a full recovery; hoping it is a speedy one!

This is my favorite fall wreath; photo doesn't do it justice! Thanks for all your good wishes, Betty!
DeleteHi Mary! I'm so glad that it all worked out so well with Tom. What a fright! And having someone in the family who's medical helps so much. It's so good that your daughter could help you, but just to translate all the medical jargon is priceless.
ReplyDeleteYou live in such a beautiful place! Thank you for sharing your neighborhood with us. I'm glad you can get out for some walks, especially in this time of year. God bless all the people who lifted your heart with their time, talent and texts. You are greatly loved!
Blessings and good wishes for a full recovery,
Ceil
God does bless my family and friends for sure. You know the kingdom principle...as you bless others, blessings return back in greater measure. And thanks for your love and prayers & email during that time!
DeleteOh, dear friend! Your words touched me and brought tears to my eyes. I am SO grateful God healed your dear Tom and allowed him to make it to the hospital in time. He is SO faithful to His trusting children, and always keeps His ears open for our prayers. I trust Tom will heal completely and God will grant you many, many more happy years together. I know this must have been such a scary experience, but I'm so grateful it all turned out good. God bless you and your precious family! Thank you for sharing your praises with us here, so we can rejoice and praise Him, too!!!
ReplyDeleteBless your beautiful words and precious heart, Cheryl! I'm very touched.

True, my wise young friend, prayer is the greatest gift for our spouse. And I learned that I reaped the benefit of others' prayers for him. Felt such peace and clarity.

ReplyDeleteYou say it well, Rosel. There is nothing like the beauty of God's people around you at a time like this. Ro 10:15 " "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" No one can comfort like our Lord using His people. Thx for prayers; you have mine as well.
DeleteOh my goodness! So glad that things turned out like they did for Tom. Praising the Lord for His mercy and grace. His timing was perfect. I love the pictures. They show such serenity to me. The Lord is good....and He is good all the time. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

DeleteOh Mary, what a scare!! But, what a tremendous outpouring of love and prayer for both of you. And what a wonderful Lord for getting Tom right where he needed to be, right when he needed to be there! Sometimes the greatest good things come out of the worst possible circumstances.
