Girls Just Want to Have Fun!

I treated my man to a breakfast buffet at the casino this morning and did we splurge!   My plate was filled with scrambled egg & cheese, homemade biscuit and honey, chicken fried steak, a slice of ham, bacon and yogurt and nuts topping it all off with pastry and coffee.   On our way out to the parking lot, we passed a Native American woman who hit the jackpot and won $1,000.   We watched.   She didn’t bat an eyelash.   She just kept playing her machine. We then headed out for an adventure.   I’m looking for a round, small outside table for my back deck.   I already have two chairs, but I need a table for those special occasions when the evenings are cool and we want to eat dinner outdoors and watch the sun set.   I don’t want to spend a lot of money so picking up something used and refurbishing it to my taste would be ideal.   We followed the bright painted signs to garage and yard sales in the area.   I started having fun when I met an eight year old girl who had

Pondering Old Glory

I admit it.   I’m a news junkie. The reason?   I love America.   I feel blessed to live in this nation.   I’ve been privileged to travel abroad and like so many Americans, I’ve returned home to embrace the beauty of this land.   My heart flows with gratitude to live in a free country.   I appreciate our rich history of men and women who feared God and passionately shaped our nation with courage and faith. Getting back to cable news, I’m frustrated when some of our leaders approve policies that lack integrity and promote a New Age agenda that scoffs at Christianity which our nation was founded on.   It’s against the law to destroy the eggs of a bald eagle but it’s ok to destroy the fetus in a woman?   Personally, my blood boils when I watch crooked politicians opening up the door to oppression rather than supporting our foundational principles.   Our borders are far from secure, suspicious emails go missing and the same standards of taxation expected of citizens do

Dad was a Romantic

The best thing about my father was the way he loved my mother.   Dad was a romantic.   My mom told me she met my dad for the first time at a family gathering.   She said he was the most handsome man in the room.   He was pretty dapper in his day! I loved his happy temperament.   My kids always got a kick out of his excitement when we arrived at grandma and grandpa’s for a visit.   His favorite saying was “How sweet it is!”   He loved the simple things:   a home-cooked meal, family, playing cards, watching the ballgame with my mother.   We teased the heck out of him for being such a staunch Cubs fan, but he would laugh it off and say that somebody has to be for the underdog.   They were his team and he was loyal even though they hardly ever won.   That says a lot about a man! My dad was the best dancing partner a girl could have!   I remember a beautiful waltz with him at my wedding. Whenever I am missing dad, I don’t have to look too far.   Bot
