Why is it important that you are with God and God alone on the mountain top? It's important because it's the place in which you can listen to the voice of the One who calls you the beloved. To pray is to listen to the One who calls you "my beloved daughter," "my beloved son," my beloved child." To pray is to let that voice speak to the center of your being, to your guts, and let that voice resound in your whole being.--Henri Nouwen
I really like the word I heard in my spirit for the coming year. “This will be the year of My favor and loving-kindness.” A confirmation of this word quickened inside me when our wood burning stove got too hot and six-inch flames sprouted from the chimney. Fortunately, we had a flare close by to extinguish the hot fire quickly. Then I remembered God’s promise of grace.
I got a call at work to rescue my husband who was stranded because his truck wouldn’t start. By the time I got there, a friendly gent had it running with a jump. It turned out to be a loose wire but we were glad it happened because we discovered a damaged hose that needed replacement. Then I remembered God’s promise of grace.
I never did get my kitchen drain working well during December, the cooking and baking month! When we got home after the Christmas Eve service, I noticed we had no water. Thankfully, it wasn’t a problem with the well again; the culprit turned out to be a kitchen pipe that was leaking under the house. When the pipe was cut and repaired, we were able to also snake out the clog and now my drain works fast! Then I remembered God’s promise of grace.
This coming year should be an interesting discovery of the favor of the Lord. I intend to keep a journal and give Him all the glory!
