The Available Husband

Jesus makes a great husband not to mention an awesome communicator. Here’s what happened to me this morning in my kitchen as I finished cleaning up after breakfast. My kitchen faucet lever snapped off while the water was flowing full blast and steaming hot. I panicked like a crazy woman. My hubby just left for the Recreation Center in a nearby town 15 miles from our home. I couldn't reach him on his cell. I was in a tizzy and that’s when I called on the Name of the Lord. I picked up the broken piece amidst the blast of steaming water and tried to fit the jagged edges together to at least shut off the flowing water. It worked.

Years ago we nicknamed my husband “Dice” for fun and it fits him perfectly because you never know what you are going to get. I learned that he didn’t even have his cell phone with him this morning! When I finally calmed down and resumed praying, Jesus got a heavy dose of praise for being there. I thought long about the immediacy of His Presence; He always is there. He said He would never leave me and He meant it.

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deu 31:8

“I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” Heb. 13:5

I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. Joshua 1:5

Modern technology is a blessing. I was able to contact my daughter who also works out at the Rec Center in the early hours of the morning. She did have her cell and was able to track down Dice so he could pick up a new faucet while he was there in town. But, I have to say, nothing beats the instant attention of the Lord. I’m never alone when I’m with Him and the neat thing is that I don’t have to leave a voice message nor do I have to go through some influential big name for access to Him. Whisper His Name and He’s there! He’s the available husband.

  4. That's always my favorite when He shows up in the midst of any chaos in our lives. I could hear you screaming and He immediately calmed not the storm but you. :) The way He does with me as I go through this difficult battle at work. He is awesome!

It reminded me of that time when something broke in the bathroom and I was to read my Bible upstairs. But for some reason, decided to stay in the family room (His nudging perhaps). If I didn't, I would have found my son playing the piano floating as a pipe had burst and was shooting lots of water. There I was screaming for my husband and child. I was just throwing all kinds of cloth materials my hands could grab onto the floor. Yet, when the chaos was over and it got fixed by my hubby, we found ourselves laughing so hard because I had never yelled like that (consider me a calm person on critical situations...Yeah right!)...

Anyway, I just visited another sister's awesome post and like yours, He is reminding me that He is God of Able. Glory be to God!

Thank you sister for your incessant whispers of petitions. God bless and always protect you and your family. Love you in Christ.

  8. You ALWAYS make my heart smile and this post did just that. To know that He never leaves us...that we are never alone no matter what happens in our lives, makes me tilt my head off to the side this day envisioning my head resting gently on his shoulder. Ahhhhh, oh how I love you Lord.

    Love you too my friend,

  9. Oh, this is so true! I saw this time and again in my years of being a single mom. I even had one old house window that I could never open without asking the Lord to help me first.
Once my dad was helping me around the house (he's a Mr. Fix-it) and he went to open the window and couldn't. I told him what worked for me, prayed, and voila! I opened it!

  14. And, Mary, rumor has it that Jesus NEVER text-messages!!

What a privilege it is to carry everything to God in prayer. Remember that old song? How comfortingly true that is.

No offense to our dear husbands, but we have an awesome Bridegroom!

    GOD BLESS!

  18. Oh so many times in my life I've depended on His faithful husbandry! What joy & comfort it is to know that He alone knows exactly how to provide for & protect me, when sometimes I leave my husband to guess at those things.

Because He Lives, I Can Move

I’m currently in one of those places where you lay out all the options and then you make the best decision. It seems, however, like none of the choices are fair or attractive. I know God will help me in my situation because I desire His guidance. I’m clinging to His Word which promises that ALL things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose, Romans 8:28. I heard a great teaching this week about seeking God’s will and all the freedom that surrender brings. We can know that God is bringing about a victory if we trust Him with each and every decision. The speaker illustrated his point with a famous painting. The painting depicts a look of despair on the chess player’s face. He’s playing Satan and his soul is at stake. It looks like Satan is winning. Checkmate! When Paul Morphy saw this painting back in the 1800’s, he set up a chess board and aligned the pieces to reflect the painting. Being a world champion, he studied the board. His conclusi

Humor for the Bride and Groom

A young couple decided to wed.  As the big day approached, they grew apprehensive.  Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. The Groom-to-be, overcoming his fear, decided to ask his father for advice.   "Father," he said, "I am deeply concerned about the success of my marriage."  His father replied, "Don't you love this girl?"   "Oh yes, very much," he said," but you see, I have very smelly feet, and I'm afraid that my fiancé will be put off by them."  "No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed."   Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. The bride-to-be, overcoming her fear, decided to take her problem up with her mom."  Mom," she said, "When I wake up in the morning my breath is truly awful."  "Honey," her mother consoled, "everyone has

A Veteran's Story

I noticed Bill sitting in our local park where I walk.   He glanced my way just as I finished the last exercise walk song on my playlist.   He shouted and pointed to my car:   “Hey, is that your car with the Nam front license plate?   I stepped closer into the veranda where Bill sat on a picnic bench.   I noticed his Vietnam Vet cap and instantly I knew why I walked there that day.   The Marine Vet served during the 1960’s, the same time span as my husband.   Bill talked a lot about the war evoking my emotions from laughter to tears.   My South Vietnam front plate often prompts a conversation with a stranger and I’ve learned a deep respect for it over the years.   It is my way of listening to a veteran.   I enjoyed listening to Bill.   He made me laugh in spots but he made me cry as well.   Like when he talked about the sandwich lady.   “Do you ever eat at the sandwich shop in the gas station down the street?”   I replied that I’ve order coffee once in that place with a turke
