When I linked up to Spiritual Sundays, I noticed Charlotte's mention of tomorrow being a Sunday that we celebrate religious freedom. Remember Alabama Judge Roy Moore? He was removed from the bench by the ACLU because he refused to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall. Now they are trying to strip his right to practice law.
Some say that he wrote this poem. My research shows that may be true, but also that he quotes it in his speeches.
America, the beautiful?,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.
Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.
Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine
choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain
From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray
We've kept God in our
temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.
We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges;
who throw reason out the door,
Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the
womb.
You think that God's not
angry, that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?
If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven;
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful,
If you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
withdraw His hand from Thee..
This is a very sobering poem....because it is so true!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very powerful poem my friend. This American will continue to lift my prayers to the Lord.
ReplyDeleteHE is faithful to HIS children.
Blessings,
Bren
Thank you Mary for your prayers.
I also wanted to tell you that I love the header of you and your sweet family. The smile on your face saids it all!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Bren
Oh such truth in his poem Mary! Such truth.
ReplyDeleteMay we all know the depth of humbling ourselves and praying, seeking HIS holy face so that he will hear us and forgive us ......
I LOVE your new header!! It is simply wonderful to see your sweet family and smiling faces on all of you :)That Susanna is such a doll!!
this is powerful and sad. I heard a minister say we're like a frog being cooked. To cook it..it's put in cold water and then slowly heated up. The frog never realizes it's being cooked at all. Good for the judge for taking a stand. He is a light.....
ReplyDeleteSo much truth to the words. Amen to freedom!
ReplyDeleteI love the new header, too! Beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteI read the poem slow and it's sad that every word was true in America's spiritual condition now. The jails are over-crowded. Many incarcerated with lots of heinous crimes but drugs is a major contributing factor. Not much is done.
Even in politics, there is just no fear anymore of God. But even sadder, are those that are supposed to shepherd the flock for Him, are not saying as much about His Truth.
Thank you sister Mary for your prayers. I have comfort now and my family with this change of my schedule. It really helps to ask Him to see any change through His eyes not mine. It's very comforting that even when we see many changes that we don't like somehow, we just know it's what He wants and definitely, it's what is best. Then no matter what goes on around us despite the evil days, it's comforting to know deep in the Spirit, He is in control!!! To God be the glory! Love you sister and keep smiling!!!
Very true...we so often take our religious freedom for granted!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this, and I also like your new header! Have a blessed Sunday!
ReplyDeleteOh so true! I thank God for his stand. We so desperately need others like him.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Annette
Thank you, Mary. Just yesterday my daughter and I were talking about how I should apply for a teaching job at a Christian school. Things are dark in the public school and kids are lost. I love being a light there, but sometimes it's SO disheartening.
ReplyDeleteSadly true, Mary.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Sunday.
I don’t know if Judge Moore wrote that or not, but it definitely sounds like something he would say. I have been so proud of his stand in Alabama (my state). Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteThat is so overwhelming and disconcerting. I pray for our country.
ReplyDeleteWOW! How the truth hurts.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Ginger
I admire the courage of men and women who remained steadfast and stood on what they believe in no matter how many hardships they have to confront.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this very beautiful hopeful post. I read somewhere that says, 'Write in your heart that everyday is the best day of your life'. So today seems like a good day for a hopeful new beginning!
Thanks for your friendship on blogosphere. I am taking my leave from it- and 'moving on' from the space which has given me much comfort from caring friends. Be blest!
love,
Silver
oops, typo error. :P
ReplyDelete"how *much hardships...."
Great post. Thank you for sharing the poem.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead.
Regards.
Sad, but true...
ReplyDeleteHow this country needs a revival - a return to the God we USED to trust.
GOD BLESS!
These words are sadly true~America has departed from the truths on which she was found.
ReplyDeleteAs we humble ourselves in prayer and seek God's face, He promises to save our land. May He have mercy on us.
Enjoyed my visit here and the pictures of your family across the header.
Blessings,
Janis
It is so sad. Makes you wonder how long God will tolerate what is going on in this country and around the world.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte
Well, isn't that the cutest little blog banner, complete with smiling faces! LOVE LOVE LOVE.
