Counting It All Joy!

I’m counting it all joy this Wednesday along with Angel at All The Muse.

We started the week off with another sale! We’re grateful for the Lord’s provision.

A rainstorm moved upon us over the weekend blessing us with a half-inch of water that fell and was ever so refreshing in this hot desert! But most days, we have to water all our trees and flowers and our vegetable garden. I joined my husband this morning at 6:00 a.m. and forty five minutes later, we were done. The corn is high! It looks like we’ll have a bunch of pumpkins this year. Pretty soon I’ll be picking the peaches and making pie! Yum.

I leave you with a good word that I found this morning in John 10:29:

For my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father's hand.

I was so encouraged when I saw this. I believe and continue to pray for loved ones who have walked away from Jesus. May they come home soon! Talk about joy!

  2. Wow Mary! I am soooo impressed ~ you have such a beautiful garden!!! That is the one thing my daddy was going to do with me this summer....we were going to plant a garden in my back yard. He drew it all out and we made the plans....I just couldn't bring myself to do it yet without him ~ maybe next year.

I love the Word you shared today! It speaks volumes!!

    Love you

  3. My mom has a "green thumb" that didn't get passed on to me :)....How sweet that must be to make something in your kitchen from the fruits of your own labor. The pumpkin and the other stuff are so healthy! Despite the ever changing weather....Reminds me if we are truly rooted in Him, nothing will ever dry us, always green and fruitful no matter the seasons! I love the way you ended this post with His powerful and true Word! I'm claiming that promise as I read it now. Thank you for this sister Mary. Thank you for sharing the joy that overflows and got rubbed off of me. God bless. Love to you sister.

  6. Mary, I loved seeing the pictures of your garden. Good for you! Maybe you could share a few pointers with me in the future.

Thanks for the reminder. My heart aches for loved ones who either don't yet know the Lord and those who have walked away for a time.

    Congrats on the sale!

    Love you,
    Debbie

  9. What a beautiful garden! You're making me hungry, talking about peaches and pie! My absolute favorite dessert is my mother's homemade peach pie. It's the best!

Please send some of that rain our way...we really need it!

I enjoyed visiting your yard today. :-)

  10. AMEN! What an awesome verse!

Your garden is beautiful. Everything here is withering away. Even our tomato plants died and that was with us giving them water.

Praying GOD is continuing to pour HIMSELF out to you and through you!
Big hugs, lots of love and prayers,
    andrea

  11. Mary:

You are wonderful gardeners!! I don't even want to GO outside it's so hot! But you have made me at least rethink it :)

Isn't it wonderful that the vegetables grow so beautifully even in the hot desert days... I really do love your garden, as well as the scripture... it's always been a comfort to me to read that verse.

    Hugs!

Because He Lives, I Can Move

I’m currently in one of those places where you lay out all the options and then you make the best decision. It seems, however, like none of the choices are fair or attractive. I know God will help me in my situation because I desire His guidance. I’m clinging to His Word which promises that ALL things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose, Romans 8:28. I heard a great teaching this week about seeking God’s will and all the freedom that surrender brings. We can know that God is bringing about a victory if we trust Him with each and every decision. The speaker illustrated his point with a famous painting. The painting depicts a look of despair on the chess player’s face. He’s playing Satan and his soul is at stake. It looks like Satan is winning. Checkmate! When Paul Morphy saw this painting back in the 1800’s, he set up a chess board and aligned the pieces to reflect the painting. Being a world champion, he studied the board. His conclusi

Humor for the Bride and Groom

A young couple decided to wed.  As the big day approached, they grew apprehensive.  Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. The Groom-to-be, overcoming his fear, decided to ask his father for advice.   "Father," he said, "I am deeply concerned about the success of my marriage."  His father replied, "Don't you love this girl?"   "Oh yes, very much," he said," but you see, I have very smelly feet, and I'm afraid that my fiancé will be put off by them."  "No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed."   Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. The bride-to-be, overcoming her fear, decided to take her problem up with her mom."  Mom," she said, "When I wake up in the morning my breath is truly awful."  "Honey," her mother consoled, "everyone has

A Veteran's Story

I noticed Bill sitting in our local park where I walk.   He glanced my way just as I finished the last exercise walk song on my playlist.   He shouted and pointed to my car:   “Hey, is that your car with the Nam front license plate?   I stepped closer into the veranda where Bill sat on a picnic bench.   I noticed his Vietnam Vet cap and instantly I knew why I walked there that day.   The Marine Vet served during the 1960’s, the same time span as my husband.   Bill talked a lot about the war evoking my emotions from laughter to tears.   My South Vietnam front plate often prompts a conversation with a stranger and I’ve learned a deep respect for it over the years.   It is my way of listening to a veteran.   I enjoyed listening to Bill.   He made me laugh in spots but he made me cry as well.   Like when he talked about the sandwich lady.   “Do you ever eat at the sandwich shop in the gas station down the street?”   I replied that I’ve order coffee once in that place with a turke
