The Yada Yada's Reunte and BLOG GIVEAWAY

We stuck together through thick and thin during our six-year commitment, and then took a two-year hiatus. Last week our Yada Yada Book Club reunited for breakfast when one of our members visited from Phoenix. We all gathered except for two who had to work, but the rest of us met at a quaint little restaurant, Sweet Grace, with its friendly charm and Christian background music . Oh, the stories I can tell about the times we discussed Christian novels at this little bistro! What memories. When I read Neta Jackson ’s The Yada Yada Prayer Group back in 2003, I knew I had to belong to such a group of diverse women who love God, love His Word and would want to support one another through the storms of life and celebrate the good times. I found such a group in Jan, Mary Jane, Lila, Belinda, Janie, Cathy and our beloved Elizabeth, who now lives in Heaven. Over the years, we celebrated our kids’ weddings, the births of our grandbabies, our birthdays, Christmas , and just plain old l

Spiritual Sundays ~ Persecution on the Job

“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you…. If they persecuted Me they will persecute you… for they do not know the One who sent Me.” John 15:19-21 I got an education about discrimination against Christians in the job market when I watched a documentary on Daystar this week. A secular counselor, who is a Christian who refuses to separate her faith and leave it at home, was persecuted while working for a secular business. She had helped her client in a work-related matter and the client then asked her to help her repair her same-sex relationship. The counselor mentioned that she would not be the best one to assist and asked if she would mind a referral to another counselor. The client agreed and within ten minutes a new counselor was on the scene. However, the original counselor was fired when the client filed a complaint against her for refusing to help her. We know as C

Why I Count It All Joy Wednesday

I'm joining Angel today as she encourages us to share the joy in our hearts. I enjoyed a rich devotion time this morning in Ephesians 4. Jesus ascended on high and led captives in His train and gave gifts to men, Eph 4:8. It fills me with joy to be called and I'm humbled to be used for God's kingdom. I praise God for His safety this week. When I pulled up to my home after work last Monday, a bull was grazing in my yard. My husband was already home cooking dinner and I called him on my cell to walk me in, but as soon as I opened my car door, the bull walked away. Honest, there really was a bull by our shed starring at me!!! It was a joyful celebration last Sunday when I was reunited with my family on Father's Day. Carrie drove me to Yuma, AZ, where we met my husband and my older daughter for lunch at a favorite Mexican restaurant. I am thankful to have been in San Diego and offer my help. It feels great to be home with my hubby and even good to return to work!

Spiritual Sundays ~ Naming the Plants!

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control Galatians 5:22 The last box was unpacked and we were amazed at how everything easily fit into place at Carrie's duplex. The fun of decorating this last week led us to thrift stores and garage sales. We chose a retro theme and got excited when we found a tablecloth and throw pillows in rich colors of burnt orange and olive greens to go with the dark wood. We finished our theme with new plants we found at the corner market: trailing pathos and a four foot Palm. This morning we purchased an unusual succulent at a garage sale. I've been studying Galatians this week and suggested that we name the new plants after the fruits of the Holy Spirit. I've been reading a book about worship. The author wrote about how she wanted to trade in her harsh personality trait for a more gentle one so she worshipped God for His attribute of gentlen

Sending Big Hugs

Do you want justice? Don't fawn on the judge But, ask the Lord for it! Prov 29:26 Praise God for His mercy and justice. We continue to thank Him for His faithfulness and provision. We know He is with us and He has lead us powerfully by His Holy Spirit. This past year has been an amazing one to learn how much the Lord Jesus loves us. I know that I am different because of it. If I could have my way, I would hug you close, dear friends, in person for all the love and support you have shown to me and my family. I know that your greatest joy is simply serving the Lord, but let me share with you the amazing touch on our lives because of your powerful intercession: We have grown so close to God and have learned powerful spiritual lessons. Carrie received wisdom especially in her court case. Protection! Financial breakthrough! Carrie found a cute place to live while ordered to stay in San Diego for the next year. It will be a great place to heal and grow spiritually. The church Carrie at

Another word from Carrie

Hi friends, First off, I want to thank you all for your prayers. I've felt the peace of the Lord on me during my darkest hours. The events of the last few days have been bewildering, at best. The divorce was granted, and although I received much favor from the Judge over child support, the ruling came down that we share joint custody of our daughter Susanna, and I must remain in San Diego for the next 14 months until Robin relocates with the Navy to the east coast. At that time, custody will be revisited, and I will most likely be awarded primary custodian, but, I guess you never know. The court orders are the opposite of what I prayed for, but if there is anything I've learned in this very long 12 month trial, it is that God is still on His throne. Nothing can thwart God's plans, so this must be His will for a reason. After a short crying spell, I heard crystal clearly in my spirit, " I have not abandoned you ." I know the Word of God tells me that He has a plan
