The topic for this Thankful Thursday is courage. Who were the women of the Bible who needed courage? Debra led the Israelites into battle and Esther saved her nation. Mary surrendered to God’s will and gave birth to a savior. The same God these women of old called upon for courage is the same God I reach for in my everyday life.
When I think of challenges in life, I think about the verse in Isaiah 65:24: Before they call, I will answer. I remember calling upon God when I needed courage to leave my family and friends and move out west. I remember calling upon God for courage when my husband’s father was diagnosed with cancer and came to live with us the last year of his life. God answered with courage when my husband lost his job and He answered when my husband faced surgery several times.
This week I am thanking God again for my family. I never thought I would be a grandmother and God gave me that privilege. The past two weeks with Susanna has been a blessing.
I’m thankful for the prayers I received for my trip to San Diego. I’m thankful that I sat in just the right seat on the shuttle and I met a new friend who just lost her mother. I enjoyed excellent health and our road trip coming home was smooth and fun.
I’m rejoicing with my oldest daughter and her husband as they celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary today.
Those are such beautiful blessings sweetie.
ReplyDeleteLooking back, it's amazing how far God has brought us, isn't it? What a lot to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteGod IS SO GOOD..and we DO have so much to be thankful for!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you here on TT this week and what great blessings are on your heart today. I am thankful for the strength and the courage that God gives us to sustain each and every day! Happy TT! -Laurie
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to hear from you again! I've been praying for you and your family's comfort.
ReplyDeleteIf we choose to walk on the path where God wants us to be, it takes "courage" for us to keep doing so. He truly is amazing that He is teaching us "courage" the same time, when we follow what He wants for us. And if we do so, it is because we know that He is there walking with us anyway, no matter what hinders our way.
God truly is amazing! And you're courageous to follow what He wants for you! God bless sister Mary! Love you in Christ!
For some reason, I had 5 mins. spared be4 I drop off my son at school but I wanted to check my blog comments so bad! No wonder, the Lord wanted me to see your request.
ReplyDeleteYour hubby's could be allergy at onset then turned to bronchitis [like mine?]. Pollen seems to be worse this year. I have on and off coughing too. Have him drink lots of water [6-8 glasses] to hydrate him and then he's able to cough out those irritants in his airways.
I just prayed not only for Susanna but for your daughter as well. May the Lord heal her now! It's still "flu season" up to April.
And you take care of yourself too. Give our thanks to the One Who hears our petitions! God bless sis Mary and have a restful day! [in His loving arms]. Love you.-Rosel
I heard it said once that "Courage isn't the absence of fear; but fear that's said it's prayers and gone ahead anyway!"
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day!
Kathleen
