Thankful Thursday - Possibilities


When I think of possibilities, I remember my mulberry tree. For years, I had a hard time blocking the strong sun on my back deck, right off my kitchen. The strong winds would come and blow off every umbrella I would mount on that deck. In my frustration, I stood on the side of my deck one day and prayed to the Lord for help. I truly believed with all my heart that He would give me wisdom but I never would have guessed how the problem would be solved. The following year, a mulberry branch began to grow between the planks at the end of the deck on the side right where I prayed. Each year, it grew so strong and thick that two years ago, my husband had to cut a ten-inch hole in the deck so as not to impair its growth! In the spring and summer, the shade from the tree covers one half of the deck providing the needed relief from the sun so we can enjoy barbecues.

Yesterday, I studied the passage in Luke 17:6 and read that if you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, “be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea” and it will obey you!
Another mustard seed text is Matthew 17:20: If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there” and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you.

On this journey of faith, I’m thankful that even when my faith seems small to me, God can still do the impossible. My mulberry tree is living proof.

    This was a great post. All this time when I looked at that tree growing out of your deck, I always thought it was a nuisance, but it was actually an answer to your prayer! It just goes to show that "blessings" are not one-size-fits-all. They are tailored just for what we need, God will always meet us where we are. He knows us best! You are an awesome prayer warrior mom!

    Oh that gave me chills!!!! I absolutely love it when God gives us pictures of His faithfulness, care and love and we notice them!!! Thank you for sharing this. Thank you, too, for your comment on my blog. I am really grateful for the encouragement!!!!

Spring is Here

  Tomorrow is the first day of spring!  Our mornings still are chilly, but then the powerful Arizona sun arises to warm our March days.  I'm considering an herb garden this year.  Fresh herbs are wonderful for cooking. What Did You Do Last Week?

  I'm not a federal government employee so I did not receive an email from DOGE with instructions to list five bullet points of what I did last week.  Perhaps Elon Musk or President Trump could care less, but I'm complying.  I'm a middle child and like to follow the rules.  After all, Mr. God has blessed me with good health and ambition, so why not thank Him for each day I can wake up and carry out the responsibilities my simple life requires? Here are my five: 1.  I have three large fenced pens behind my house filled with old straw-like over grown weeds and it's hard to walk back there.  I raked two of the three pens and bagged 12 large garbage bags of weeds.  I'm skittish of burning them; I dislike fire chores.  The bags are heavy!  It looks neater and flatter.  I'm ready for the spring rains to come.  Then I will have nasty fresh green weeds to pull.  We need rain badly, nonetheless. 2.  I hosted an intimate dinner part...

The Last Supper Movie

  It was on I-17, halfway to Camp Verde, when I discovered my turn signal had no sound.  Oh, my signals were working right, but when I reached up to my left ear I realized my hearing aids got left behind.  I took them out right before the final hairspray but forgot to put them back in again.  Hearing sounded muffled.  I chalked it up to old age and prayed for grace to be able to hear supernaturally as I drove to meet up with friends.  They were forgiving and sensitive and helped me forge through our afternoon plans.  We drove over the mountain towards Prescott to meet up with others from our home church and indulged in lunch at Chili's for good food and fun fellowship.  Afterwards, we walked across the street to purchase tickets for the afternoon viewing of The Last Supper.   There are two Last Supper movies playing at this writing.  We saw the movie Chris Tomlin co-produced.  The emphasis was on the day Jesus shared a Passover Sede...
