My God Restores!

Return to the stronghold of security and prosperity,
You prisoners of hope;
Even today do I declare that I will restore
Double your former prosperity to you.
Zechariah 9:12

I am overjoyed to write this post today.

Three years ago at this time, I was slobbering all over my lap top, expressing my sad and broken heart because my daughter’s life spun out of control and I couldn’t bear the brokenness I saw on her face.  Her husband, the man she loved like no other, came home from deployment and walked right out of her life leaving her to cope with a baby just a few months old and no family member nearby to cry with or babysit. You helped us!  I felt rescued, supported, and encouraged when you came alongside us with your loving words, beautiful cards, emails, testimonies and most importantly your powerful prayers.  Hands down, this was the time in my life when I felt the most loved and carried by the Body of Christ.  Our family pulled through with strength and purpose focusing on Jesus and our covenant blessings.  We learned the meaning of restoration.  We look nothing like we did!  Thank you!

We got the good news last night.  I couldn’t wait to tell you!  I am proud to announce that our daughter, Carrie, is officially engaged to Paul, a loving Christian man she met at church last fall who has pursued her relentlessly and loves little Susanna like she’s his own.

This post connects to my friends at Spiritual Sundays where inspiration sustained me in the hard times.

  4. I am sitting here reading this with goose bumps!! Oh what an answer to prayer. I remember so well when you asked for prayer for Carrie and I have watched and read as you both have shared God's faithfulness during this journey.

I am so thrilled for Carrie, and for your whole family Mary. Oh how good it is to see the way God has met her needs, and now this new little family begins their own journey.

There is NOTHING better than a good old God sent answer to the prayers of our hearts!

  6. Just seeing the picture of them, one could just sense the love and joy they both share. Now, to read your words, that's a double dose of JOY! Joy that comes only from the Hands of the One Who loves to heal, restore, bless,etc...etc...

Thank you sister Mary for sharing with me another faith marker, reminding me that truly He is always faithful no matter how tough our trek is. I'm so happy for sister Carrie. 10. Well, I had goose bumps all over me reading this post, Mary...

I admired Carrie for remaining faithful to her covenant marriage until the very end.

But God loves surprise endings, doesn't He?

Paul knows what a prize catch he's had, and won't let go.

    Praising God with you all!

    Much love

  12. I'm so happy for your daughter. Thank you for your prayers for my daughter Carrie. Her husband is recovering nicely from his broken back and the hospital showed them mercy by declaring them a charity case so they had very low hospital bills to pay. God is so good and so full of mercy and grace. I awill pry for a God-blessed marriage for your daughter.

  17. God is good... I write often about my daughters, they give so much in the way of subject matter.

I have three, two were from my wife's first marriage. I was one of those people who said, "never," but God had different ideas... My daughters are equal to me, yes they test my wife and I often, but they are mine and I love each one of them the same way... God is in the business of miracles and restoration.

Because He Lives, I Can Move

I’m currently in one of those places where you lay out all the options and then you make the best decision. It seems, however, like none of the choices are fair or attractive. I know God will help me in my situation because I desire His guidance. I’m clinging to His Word which promises that ALL things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose, Romans 8:28. I heard a great teaching this week about seeking God’s will and all the freedom that surrender brings. We can know that God is bringing about a victory if we trust Him with each and every decision. The speaker illustrated his point with a famous painting. The painting depicts a look of despair on the chess player’s face. He’s playing Satan and his soul is at stake. It looks like Satan is winning. Checkmate! When Paul Morphy saw this painting back in the 1800’s, he set up a chess board and aligned the pieces to reflect the painting. Being a world champion, he studied the board. His conclusi

Humor for the Bride and Groom

A young couple decided to wed.  As the big day approached, they grew apprehensive.  Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. The Groom-to-be, overcoming his fear, decided to ask his father for advice.   "Father," he said, "I am deeply concerned about the success of my marriage."  His father replied, "Don't you love this girl?"   "Oh yes, very much," he said," but you see, I have very smelly feet, and I'm afraid that my fiancé will be put off by them."  "No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed."   Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. The bride-to-be, overcoming her fear, decided to take her problem up with her mom."  Mom," she said, "When I wake up in the morning my breath is truly awful."  "Honey," her mother consoled, "everyone has

A Veteran's Story

I noticed Bill sitting in our local park where I walk.   He glanced my way just as I finished the last exercise walk song on my playlist.   He shouted and pointed to my car:   “Hey, is that your car with the Nam front license plate?   I stepped closer into the veranda where Bill sat on a picnic bench.   I noticed his Vietnam Vet cap and instantly I knew why I walked there that day.   The Marine Vet served during the 1960’s, the same time span as my husband.   Bill talked a lot about the war evoking my emotions from laughter to tears.   My South Vietnam front plate often prompts a conversation with a stranger and I’ve learned a deep respect for it over the years.   It is my way of listening to a veteran.   I enjoyed listening to Bill.   He made me laugh in spots but he made me cry as well.   Like when he talked about the sandwich lady.   “Do you ever eat at the sandwich shop in the gas station down the street?”   I replied that I’ve order coffee once in that place with a turke
