Spiritual Sundays ~ The Talking Mug

This is my new coffee cup. It talks to me every morning as I start my day. The scripture says: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7. The script reads: Good morning, this is God! I will be handling all your problems today. I will not need your help—so have a good day. I love you!

The mug came with instructions. My girlfriend, Glenda, bought it for me at the Joyce Meyer Bookstore while we were at the conference together last weekend. She told me it’s a souvenir to remember all the fun we enjoyed in the Word together! I am to drink my coffee every morning dwelling on this 1 Peter verse and cast all my cares on Jesus who can handle all my problems. I think it is so cute and I’m thankful that she blessed me with it.

And then yesterday came. I got one of those blows from the enemy that knocks you down. Bad news. I just finished my coffee this morning and I’m sitting here remembering who’s I am and how much He cares for me. I'm encouraged.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Remember, He cares for you!

  1. I love it! ... Aren't you blessed to have such a caring, thoughtful friend?
This reminds me of a "Footprints" coffee mug one of my co-workers gave me when I left Texas in the mid-80's. To this day, it's my "Sunday and Monday mornings" mug. (Yes, I'm sort-of weird, in that I favor different mugs for each day of the week!)
So sorry to learn someone has hurt your heart, Mary ... I'm holding you in prayer. Please, let me know if I might help?
    Love you!

  2. Hi Saleslady -

Hit Satan back with the Word of GOD, praise, and thanks to Almighty GOD!

GOD has not ceased to fight for you. Give no place to the Devil.
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through GOD to the pulling down of strongholds.
Greater is He that is in you, Mary, than he that is in the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world - our faith.

The witness of GOD is greater.

    Psalm 46:5 - KJV
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

    2 Corinthians 10:4 - KJV
    Ephesians 6 - KJV
    1 John 5:4 - KJV
    1 John 5:9 - KJV

  4. Love the mug, and the message. Yes, I need to hear that EVERY morning!

Why is it that the enemy always seems to strike right after we've experienced God's blessings? He's way too good at his job.

But, we have someone who fights with us. And He gave us His Word as our weapon.

The mug is true - God cares!!

    GOD BLESS!

  5. What a sweet gift! Just when you needed it.:) When I get bad news I always refer back to Jairus. Even though bad news came he still got his miracle. I believe God still has your miracle on His mind...His plans have not changed.:) I'll be agreeing with you for victory!

  10. Mary, what a great reminder to wake up to every morning. Aren't we glad we have the all powerful one to handle our burdens each and every day?
So glad you clung to the Word when the enemy tried to defeat your joy. To God be the glory.

    Blessings,
    Janis

  13. Hi Mary,

What a wonderful daily reminder of God's love; especially when the enemy of God attacks our thoughts.

May we always cast our cares on Him because we know this truth, "He cares for you."

    Blessings and peace.

  15. Mary your talking mug idea is great. I should get one of those. It is good to be reminded as often as you drink your coffee!

I am praying for you now as I write this comment for you - that whatever it was you encountered is already being resolved in heaven, even before you asked.

God knows those who are His, and He has your name written on the palm of His hand.

May you be surrounded by His hedge of protection - from fear and worry and whatever else the enemy wants to throw your way.

    Praying for you today.
    Love
    Lidj

  17. What a special way for your friend to shelter you. So many times our sheltering continues far past the actual event of shelter. I hope you have a blessed week as you continue to cast your care on our Heavenly Father.

  19. I'm so sorry the enemy is bothering you! You must be a huge threat to him.

I posted some daily declarations at my other blog. I read them outloud every morning. It's been a tremendous help. Maybe they could help you too?

A Memorial Day Reflection

Memorial Day is always noteworthy for me and my girls.  Next Thursday marks the third year of missing their father, my husband. So many thoughts  run through my mind.  The journey of loss takes on various emotions.  The strongest feeling, at first, was emptiness.  In a split second, I would forget he departed forever.  I imagined things I needed to talk to him about when he got back home.  My mind is realistic now.  He's not coming back.  There will be no more times of sitting on the porch swing together on the front deck staring at the moon and the stars.  He would tell me all he knew about the majestic night sky. I have so much I wish I could tell him, like the excitement of seeing our oldest grandchild make a decision to follow Jesus and get baptized on Mother's Day!  And our little Amy, 11 years old, I wish he could have seen her on stage receiving her induction to the National Honor Society. Our daughters have their own ...

Massive Wave; Need Prayer!

A few days ago, I dreamt that I was on the beach and a massive wave was approaching the shore but I didn’t move. I wondered why? It’s hard to write now on my blog. I’m going to focus on the Lord in prayer and His Word for a few weeks so please don’t worry about me. I need your prayers and encouragement. Your blogs lift me up when I visit you; I’m blessed to know so many bloggers who love Jesus and I will continue to read your posts and be inspired! Know that I hold your prayer requests near and dear to my heart and will continue to pray faithfully for you. That is a promise! The spiritual battle against my family rages. One precious sister commented to me that the warfare is not so much about all the issues that the enemy is falsely accusing our family members about as it is about the Name of God! This battle belongs to Him. I praise Him for His faithfulness. The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10 Please pray for the upcoming court ...

It's Not Always About the Tomatoes

I like to travel with buddies and rename them.  I vacationed in Costa Rica with Lupe who loves margaritas   and gets a little loopy.   I don’t drink but I’m a fun gal.  Just ask my co-worker, Frank.  I nicknamed him Jellyfish.  I packed my underwater camera.  Jellyfish can hold his breath really long.  He modeled for my underwater photo shoot in the colossal pool at the resort our company chose for us. I am fascinated with rain forests so my favorite thing to do in Costa Rica is to take walks in them.  I signed up for the tour of an organic cacao working farm.  Lupe chose it too.  A group of us piled into tractors to view crops of watermelon, mango, rice and cattle while we chewed on natural sugar cane, their largest product.  We observed monkeys, Toucans, and sloths. The best part of the tour for me taught about climate change and harvest time as we walked single file among papaya trees, cacao trees, as we...
