Celebrating!


The Cheesecake Factory is a favorite of mine! My husband and oldest daughter picked me up at the Phoenix Airport today at Noon...just in time to celebrate my birthday lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. Yes, I left room for dessert...the cheesecake with the red velvet cake in the middle! You bet! We all shared my piece. Get this: when I was in San Diego yesterday, my youngest daughter and I had lunch also at The Cheesecake Factory! Two days in a row!

Thank you my online friends and family who sent emails or left messages for me this week. I loved your birthday wishes and loving thoughts and prayers. Oh, how I wish I could scoop you all up and have cheesecake together!
Last week when I was in San Diego I went out to breakfast with Carrie, Susanna and the neighbor next door, Daisy. She, also, was celebrating her birthday! At 92, She's become a very special friend to us and we joked about the large gap in all of our ages and here we were, partying together at IHOP! It does make me ponder though as I grow older what I cherish in life. What is it that you cherish the older you get? I think for me it is God's Word. I hope I don't sound super spiritual, but His Word never gets old, never loses its excitement for me and always encourages me. Do you have a signature scripture? I'll leave you with mine and may it bless you and uplift you today:

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

    Yay! Happy Birthday sister Mary! So glad to hear from you and I'm glad you got to go to Cheesecake Factory 2x!

    I don't think you sounded super spiritual. I think it's your heart overflowing with God's everlasting kindness.

    I love Proverbs 3:5,6 for me. And He put it in my heart not to overindulge with sweets lately and give up my Starbucks Mocha. Boy! I'm glad I trusted Him because I've been good for 2 weeks and I feel 6 pounds lighter and my wallet seems to be heavier! :)

    Have a good night sister. Praying for the Lord to bless you more and more and that grant you many, many more years to come so you can have not "2" but many, many trips to Cheesecake Factory!!! Take care and love to you.

    I'm so glad you enjoyed your special day. I love getting together with people of different ages.

    It's interesting because the verse in Isaiah you wrote out is right in front of my computer laminated. I need that verse frequently.

A Memorial Day Reflection

  Memorial Day is always noteworthy for me and my girls.  Next Thursday marks the third year of missing their father, my husband. The Lesson in the Middle

I wanted to dance when I heard the good news.  I don’t need surgery! When my doctor examined me last month, he suspected further care and sent me to a specialist in a city up north.  I had to wait only two weeks to get in to see him.  The specialist did not agree about surgery so I’m off the hook. I learned an important lesson about my faith journey in the middle of the two-week period of waiting for my appointment to see the specialist. I needed to be educated in medical knowledge and procedures so I could make a wise judgment for my future.  A friend suggested a support group with other women so I could glean info.  I joined.  I listened to their experiences and gained understanding.  I researched like crazy.  I became smart. I'm Going as Abigail This Year

I vote for more purses, toothbrushes, cups, storybooks, and Halloween costumes that feature Abigail of the Old Testament.  She is a heroin worthy to emulate, in my opinion, even more than Cinderella. Once upon a time, there was a kind woman by the name of Abigail who lived with a surly man who liked to drink a lot and have parties.  One time, King David and his army were very hungry and entered the surly man’s homestead and asked if they could come to his barbecue.  The king had a right to ask because he and his men protected the homestead’s boundary lines.  The surly man said “No.  Get off my property.”  The King had a temper and became offended.
