My husband shared his years of research about the Lord’s name with our friends at Life Group last Friday. “We call him Jesus” he said, “But technically, His real Jewish name is Yeshua. " “Jesus was most likely never called ‘Jesus’ during his 33 years on this earth. For example, our little granddaughter, Susanna, tries to call my wife Grammy, but it comes out Groggy. Trust me, there isn’t anything Groggy wouldn’t do for this little princess. All she has to do is ask! Likewise, when we pray in the name of Jesus, our savior Yeshua hears and answers us.”
This past week our church hosted a Holy Spirit Seminar. I attended the night the teaching was about prayer. As the speaker presented his foundational points, he mentioned that some people don’t pray much for fear that they may pray wrongly. To explain that point, he used an excellent illustration. He said that when a toddler speaks, we may not always know what he is saying, but if his parents are in the room, they know! It is that way when we pray. Our prayers ascend to Jesus and He knows what it is we are communicating. Jesus knows our heart.
Our God is not sensitive about being addressed by a correct name. I picture Him today encouraging us to speak freely before Him at His throne. Even if the prayer is not articulate, His acceptance and love for us abounds.
11“You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? 12Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! 13So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” Luke 11:11-13

ReplyDeleteMay I never be that way...afraid to pray...How can I if I'm communicating with the One Who created everything? Even languages, different dialects?
ReplyDeleteWhat a comforting message to know that He knows what our hearts want to say. Even better to know that He intercedes if we don't know what to pray for. God bless you sister and protect you always. Love you in Christ.
Such a beautiful example of how simple it is to talk to God. He knows us and we know Him. God bless :)

Great post, Mary. I love the verse found in Romans 8:26 where it talks of the Holy Spirit interceeding for us when we don't know how to pray.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed week!

Thank you for a beautiful post again today....God bless..
ReplyDeleteI really love what your hubby said and it's so true, isn't it? He sees our hearts and responds whether the words are perfect or not.
ReplyDeleteSuch good words, Mary, and the scripture too.
Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a privilege to carry - everything to God in prayer! And He listens...to the words we say, and the words we can't.
GOD BLESS!
Thank you for sharing such a lovely post. Brought a smile to my face indeed. Blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteOh I can't help but come by sister Mary as soon as I read your comment. How sad that there is no greeting card for the veterans. My husband came home last night from work and showed me some establishments giving some freebies. Some restaurants/theme parks are only giving it to active duty military? And we both were thinking, "how 'bout the veterans?" It is sad the way they are not being remembered. Not that they want something in return. But they did risk their precious lives. And I just pray that people will never forget that. God bless you sister. Keeping you in prayers and thank you for yours. I still hope that your daughter will find one. Even one!!! Love to you.
ReplyDeleteI so love your heart my dear friend...
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post and one that touches me deeply on such a personal level.
Hugs & Prayers,
