Spiritual Sundays ~ The Recalled Egg

Did you hear about Lucerne recalling their eggs this week? I looked in my fridge. I did have a carton of Lucerne, but not the recalled numbers. Whew! My family will not get sick. The news station said the outcast eggs will need to be returned due to Salmonella fears.

Sometimes I feel like the outcast egg. I need to be recalled when the world or the flesh or the devil infiltrate my life. I am praising God today for the blood of Jesus Christ. It is the place I go to be washed clean. He gives me a fresh start every time I return to Him!

Spiritual Sundays is a great place to be refreshed in the spirit. Thank you, Charlotte and Ginger, and all the good writers who participate!

  1. I can't imagine the fear this recall instill to so many of us who love eggs!

But I can't imagine the consequences, too if we insist on being "bad" when He's been calling our attention to be recalled by Him! Great analogy sister Mary! Have a great weekend! Blessings and love.

  6. Love that picture. Yesterday I felt like I should be recalled when I seemed so “prickly” whenever I was around people. Definitely need that fresh start every day! Thanks for sharing this.

  8. Wonderful analogy, Mary!
For all outer appearances, an egg seems so "normal" - we never stop to wonder what might be lurking inside its shell.... and still, we trust.
Thanks to God who sees all things, great and small.

  9. The whole egg drama makes me think of a similar drama where manna was concerend. The Israelites were to gather/consume their need of it the same day (no danger of hoarding issues, there!).

The suspect eggs date back to May. There's got to be a parallel message here somewhere ...

Thank God it is for freedom that we've been set free. No "pull dates", or "best used by ..." for us. We live in the proverbial NOW, and for that I am uttered egg-static! :)

    Hugs,
    Kathleen

  10. I love thought. Reminds me of the old song, "What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus."

  13. Great post!
Last night I felt like I should had been recalled when something happened to upset me and I lost it... But God has given us an incredible gift of a fresh start.
And this morning I awoke feeling refreshed. Surely only God could do this!!God is good.

    Lamentations 3:22-24
The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!"

  17. Wonderful analogy! And that's just how I felt the other night. PTL we're not so hard-boiled that God can't lift us over easy. And thank God we're not deviled! He won't coddle us, but uses His goldenrod as needed. Now I have to scramble and figure out what's for supper. Keep your sunny side up! 8-]

    Sorry, I just couldn't resist. 8-]
Thanks ever so for your encouraging comment!
    Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

  18. This is great!! Made me laugh...even though it is a serious problem...the eggs come from a place not too far from where we live, but we eat organic or free range so no worry for us...this time anyway! Great analogy...

Because He Lives, I Can Move

I’m currently in one of those places where you lay out all the options and then you make the best decision. It seems, however, like none of the choices are fair or attractive. I know God will help me in my situation because I desire His guidance. I’m clinging to His Word which promises that ALL things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose, Romans 8:28. I heard a great teaching this week about seeking God’s will and all the freedom that surrender brings. We can know that God is bringing about a victory if we trust Him with each and every decision. The speaker illustrated his point with a famous painting. The painting depicts a look of despair on the chess player’s face. He’s playing Satan and his soul is at stake. It looks like Satan is winning. Checkmate! When Paul Morphy saw this painting back in the 1800’s, he set up a chess board and aligned the pieces to reflect the painting. Being a world champion, he studied the board. His conclusi

Humor for the Bride and Groom

A young couple decided to wed.  As the big day approached, they grew apprehensive.  Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. The Groom-to-be, overcoming his fear, decided to ask his father for advice.   "Father," he said, "I am deeply concerned about the success of my marriage."  His father replied, "Don't you love this girl?"   "Oh yes, very much," he said," but you see, I have very smelly feet, and I'm afraid that my fiancĂ© will be put off by them."  "No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed."   Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. The bride-to-be, overcoming her fear, decided to take her problem up with her mom."  Mom," she said, "When I wake up in the morning my breath is truly awful."  "Honey," her mother consoled, "everyone has

A Veteran's Story

I noticed Bill sitting in our local park where I walk.   He glanced my way just as I finished the last exercise walk song on my playlist.   He shouted and pointed to my car:   “Hey, is that your car with the Nam front license plate?   I stepped closer into the veranda where Bill sat on a picnic bench.   I noticed his Vietnam Vet cap and instantly I knew why I walked there that day.   The Marine Vet served during the 1960’s, the same time span as my husband.   Bill talked a lot about the war evoking my emotions from laughter to tears.   My South Vietnam front plate often prompts a conversation with a stranger and I’ve learned a deep respect for it over the years.   It is my way of listening to a veteran.   I enjoyed listening to Bill.   He made me laugh in spots but he made me cry as well.   Like when he talked about the sandwich lady.   “Do you ever eat at the sandwich shop in the gas station down the street?”   I replied that I’ve order coffee once in that place with a turke
