When I get older
losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine

I
hope your Thanksgiving was as enjoyable as ours. Christmas preparations are in the mix but our
family is pausing this weekend as we celebrate one more thing: my husband’s birthday tomorrow! Tom turns 65!
I’ll
never forget the day I met him at a family party. He was sitting down when I was introduced to
him and when he stood up, I was swept over with his height, his dark hair &
eyes and handsomeness. His family
suggested that we party again the following weekend to celebrate my 21st
birthday, but he turned to me and said: “I
would like to take you out to dinner next Saturday; I’ll pick you up at 7:00.” I liked his decisiveness. A whole week went by without a call and I
wondered if he forgot. At 7:00 he
knocked at the door! I liked his
punctuality. We had a great time. We fell in love and all too soon he was
catching a plane to Boston where he was stationed in the Navy.
That
was over 40 years ago, and our journey has been adventurous. I celebrate so many things about him—he is
still good at making quick decisions, and has lead our family well. He’s creative and thinks outside the box for
sure. I love his strong faith in Jesus,
his love for his family and his country and his wonderful sense of humor.
Amy
told me it was fun cooking Thanksgiving dinner with her dad. They played Christmas music in the background
and goofed around.
The
apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
We
celebrate and love you, Tom. You’re one
of a kind! Happy birthday.
Happy Birthday to your hubby Mary!
