Book Review: Homespun Devotions Volume Two


I thoroughly enjoyed Volume Two of Homespun Devotions by Author Cheryl E. Smith.  It is refreshing to read about Cheryl's faith expressed through her family relationships with her husband, Kevin, and son, Zach.  Stories of growing up in a home with wise Christian parents teach us principles which never lose value and are much needed in our present world.


I especially liked the old-fashioned country charm seen and felt in Cheryl's words which grace the pages of  compiled stories of her life.


Cheryl is the author of Biblical Minimalism: Following Jesus from a Life of Abundance to a More Abundant Life.  She also writes devotionals at http://www.homespundevotions.com and plays guitar and sings on You Tube Channel, Mountain Hope Band.

    I am reading the 2nd volume too and Cheryl always has wonderful life stories to go right along with the living Word of God. Hugs and blessings to you. Cindy

  A friend noticed Cowboy Church off of Dry Creek Road in West Sedona yesterday morning as he drove past and told me the parking lot was bulging with cars from everywhere.  "Something big was going on!  He said." "Yes I replied; I was there and I want to tell you all about what happened." Spiritual Sundays ~ Wedding Anniversary

I remember when we sold one of our homes to a dancer who starred in one of the popular TV programs from the sixties. She decided to move to her Sedona property. She shared many things with me about Hollywood during each phase of the construction like when she dated Elvis. Personally, I’ve never been an Elvis fan, so I wasn’t impressed if he was a good kisser or not. The dancer married several times but now she found the dream man and now wanted the dream home. During one of her visits to my office, I was celebrating a wedding anniversary. I was taken aback when she asked me a personal question. What is the secret to a long- lasting marriage? I replied: “respect.” Ephesians 5:33 says” each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Women want to be loved and men want to be respected. Spiritual Sunday

Psalm 91 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” A big thank you to you friends who prayed for me today. I arrived safely in San Diego. Your prayers were strengthening, I'll tell you, when I got into the city and four lanes of traffic merged into another four lanes and I had to make sure I was on the correct route. I couldn't have done it without the Lord's help through your prayers and Amy's calm co-piloting! When we began our road trip this morning and entered our first interstate at about 4:45 a.m. it was pitch black out. We followed a big semi with the back panel of his truck lit up with these words: Jesus is Lord . I thought this was worthy of a Spiritual Sunday post!
