I’m participating in a thirty-day challenge that I want to tell you about. Based on Stormie Omartian’s book, The Power of a Praying Wife, many of us women on line are reading a chapter a day and praying for our husbands using the scriptures posted in the chapter. The challenge is named SHMILY, (See How Much I Love You.) See my sidebar.
If you’re like me and have the book on a shelf, you just might want to take it down and join us. I have read it before, but I’m reviewing the chapters and praying the prayers in them every day with the gals.
Today we’re reading Chapter 7, His Mind. Stormie wrote that no matter where she speaks, women mention that their husbands battle the enemy in their mind. Regardless of their temperaments or backgrounds, they all experience the same kind of lies in their mind. These lies undermine what God wants to do, but God has not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind, 2 Timothy 1:7.
My husband has ADHD and I like to pray this scripture for his mind. In fact, when he learned that I accepted the thirty-day challenge, he was delighted and knew I would be praying specific prayers for him every day. We’ve been married for 37 years and I want to keep our love alive!
I invite you to join us. Go to Amy Verlennich’s website, Dandelion Seeds. SHMILY is detailed there. Or you can access the challenge on Amy’s Facebook site.
Thank you Charlotte and Ginger for hosting Spiritual Sundays and all the encouragement that we receive from all the wonderful posts!

That's a special idea: to commit to praying every day for a specific thing for your husband--or for any one you love. Thanks for sharing. Happy Spiritual Sunday.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I read a James Dobson book together and he told a story about SHMILY. I have been want to read the book A Praying wife thank-you for this information.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless,
Ginger
What a great challenge! I have that book, too so I will definitely be joining you ladies! Thanks for the links!
ReplyDeleteI signed up for that challenge too. I don't think we are friends on Facebook yet. My name there is Debbie Sumstad Petras. I wanted to be able to find some high school friends so I added my maiden name. We should be friends there too.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this book although with all the books in our house I wouldn't be surprised if we have it. What a wonderful idea to pray for our husbands. Thank you for sharing this with us today.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte
It's always a treat to come visit you! I have read Stormie's book and loved it. What a wonderful challenge, and to put it to good use is a blessing that all involved will reap. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I love Stormie and her powerful prayers! I think it's awesome to pray for our spouses always [daily]. We need not let our guard down just because we've been saved. We forget that once we are His children, that's when the enemy gets active in trying to stop our works for the Lord or to have a marriage that lasts. He is active but we know he trembles once we start to bend our knees and fold our hands together and commune with our Lord. Have a great Sunday my dear sister in Christ! Love and blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteMary thankyou! You truly are a spiritual mentor that shines for Jesus! I have these books and love these prayers for my husband and my kids as well! They are powerful!
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings!
We have some of her books, but not this one. God bless you as you participate in this good challenge.
ReplyDeleteI have that book too. A friend gave it to me several years ago. It was really good.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying this challenge too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with us!
Love,
Beth
This sounds wonderful and I have not read it. I believe that prayers such as this can change our lives.
ReplyDeletethank you for your post today.
Hugs...Jeanne
I, too have read and studied thru this book...it is awesome as are her others!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your continued prayers...I need them badly!!
Awesome! I love the SHMILY. That is so beautiful and powerful. I believe your study will be life-transforming!
ReplyDeleteGod bless.

I love the idea of committing to pray for your spouse using this plan. I'm going to have to pull this book out and re-read this particular chapter again. Our husbands minds are so ripe for the Enemy. Men are more visually oriented than we are. My husband has Tourette's syndrome and as an added bonus also has OCD and tardive dyskenesia. The OCD can get really bad sometimes with TS. I am spurred on to pray for his mind by your post!
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a sweet comment today. I'm glad that spirit of rejection is no longer an issue. I think you're right, quiet women need to be double the effort and outgoing women need to be more sensitive. Great thoughts on this subject!

ReplyDeleteI'd not heard of this before ... but love the idea! Thanks so much for introducing it.
ReplyDeleteI've only recently "discovered" your blog and have so enjoyed dropping in to catch up your goings-on! My own hubby comes from a large, close Polish clan in Chicago. We're hoping to be able to travel back there in October for his 50th h/s reunion, and he can show me the city!
Have a beautiful new week!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter gave me a daily calendar of Stormie's that had a quote a day in it and I loved reading it every day. Great idea to pray for specific things!
Hugs,
Jean
Hey special lady. I came by to say hi. I hope all is well with you.
ReplyDeleteI read the book many times years ago and was involved in a Women's Bible Study group that did several of her books. Awesome.
Bless you!
I have never read this book. Thanks for the post. I will hop over and check it out. Have a blessed day!
