The Nation Gathered

All last week, I looked forward to Saturday.  Social media posts invited Christians to our nation's capital for serious prayer.  I couldn't travel to the east coast, but prepared my heart like I was going.   I purposely skipped meals, refused dessert and prayed like never before.  I sincerely yearned for quiet time with God to give Him my heart and experience deeper love for Him.  The weekend nears an end, but the excitement continues.   I want to document it. It turned out bigger than I dreamed.

“The Return”

Yesterday, September 26, Messianic Jew, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn (author of Harbinger books) called a sacred assembly in Washington, D.C.  Not a rally, he defined it as a sacred assembly with an appointed time and place by God, complete with Shofar blasts.  The threefold purpose called all who attended to repent, to pray for our nation and other nations of the world, and to pray for revival.  This gathering assembled on the heels of the estimated 100,000 Christians who marched with Franklin Graham to the White House praying for healing for our nation.  This epic event of both assemblies, complete with powerful intercession and lively worship, kept my attention for hours on the You Tube channel.

Our Local Event

Equally exciting, Christians in our little local community gathered in the park for our own "Return" experience on the same day!  We worshiped with a local praise band, some read Scripture and some shared testimonies of God's greatness in their lives.  And we all repented.

Tom and I enjoyed being with the remnant crowd to experience a “return” to God calling forth cleansed and renewed hearts.  We connected by prayer, worship and a burden to pray for our police, firemen and government.

Did you watch any part of The Return in Washington?  What about your Christian communities:  Did any assemble on this day of repentance where you live?  I would love to hear your story, too.

I caught a glimpse of our local town’s events with my camera.  I never want to forget the day we put aside our opinions of current events and, even though socially distanced, we picked up our weapons of warfare—our prayers and praise to the only One who can usher in renewal in this contentious world.

  1. I didn't know about it until you left a comment at my site. Just as I was about to watch it in You Tube, there it was (The Return). I had seen few mins. at the beginning but I want to watch it and finish it. I like listening to Jonathan Cahn. Thank God for the assembly he initiated. I don't think many Christians have repented. Like truly repented. It's easy to say "Forgive me Lord" but it's hard to turn away from what has a hold on their lives (sins, idols...) It is time (God's time) and what a joy it was to see many gathered, not only in DC but all over the world. I can't imagine all the prayers being poured out. But this we must do to repent and always be in tuned with what God has willed for each of us. That's awesome that you also did it in your community. Not sure if we had one in our town. It's amazing to see that there is no color, no opinion that divides everyone if they put God in the center. Love and blessings sister Mary. Praying with you.

  2. I'm so sorry to have missed the Return, but will look for portions on-line. Whether in one's closet (War Room) or gathering with fellow believers, the power of prayer is not to be under-estimated! Blessings!

  3. As far as I know there were no local worship in the little town near us. Since I am not feeling well i was home most of the day and because facebook was flooded with this gathering in Washington I was aware all day of the prayers going up to God's throne. I talked to a friend in southern Ca who gathered with a few women for a time of prayer and meeting with our pastor. As for personally, I am so caught up in this getting our house ready to move in by the 20th of Oct. It was chilly last night, rained all day here, a cold rain too so I felt the urgency to add my prayer to the many going before the Lord. What an inspiring time it must have been to be in such a huge gathering without any fires, broken windows, cars smashed up and people killed and hurt. Thanks for sharing your time with your community with us...warms the heart.

    1. You make a great point, Betty. No fires or destruction in these prayer meetings or Trump's rallies for that matter. Hope you're feeling better.

  4. It looks like prayers were being lifted across our nation for our nation. "If my people...." Praise God!

  5. I sat in tears last night as we watched the replay of the prayer march. I don't think they did anything here locally where we live, which is a shame, but it just warmed my heart to watch it online. I was wondering how the Franklin Graham event and the Jonathan Cahn event were going to coincide. Thank you for this informative post, dear friend. I am continuing to do the intermittent daily fasting and am interceding with all my heart for our nation and the upcoming election. How we need God's mercy! We surely don't deserve it, but we desperately need it. Praying and believing alongside you and the many others who are spiritual discerning and awake and sending hugs to you today.

  7. Hi Mary,
it was lovely to hear that so many people gathered in the streets to praise our lovely Lord, and revival is so needed in the whole world. Here in northern Ireland many churches come together in fields and worship from their cars. Lovely to see the Jewish man involved, my mother and both her parents were Jews, and I have always felt a connection to them myself.
God bless you for sharing, and I hope this will bring many more to the Lord.

We Have This Day

A friend noticed Cowboy Church off of Dry Creek Road in West Sedona yesterday morning as he drove past and told me the parking lot was bulging with cars from everywhere.  "Something big was going on!  He said." "Yes I replied; I was there and I want to tell you all about what happened." I glanced over the highly attended sanctuary as the first speaker approached to speak.  He introduced himself as a pastor from the state of Washington but he was also my bestie's nephew.  His engaging  eulogy of the life of his cousin, Ashley, gripped me.  He helped all of us understand and trust God when we want to scream "She was so young.  What about her widower husband now who loved her with all his heart?  What about their two-year old boy who misses his mommy?"  There are days we just don't understand God's ways.  But I am at peace to know Ashley is finally pain free and lives in Paradise. I glanced at her mom, Maureen, my best friend now for...

Spiritual Sundays ~ Wedding Anniversary

I remember when we sold one of our homes to a dancer who starred in one of the popular TV programs from the sixties. She decided to move to her Sedona property. She shared many things with me about Hollywood during each phase of the construction like when she dated Elvis. Personally, I’ve never been an Elvis fan, so I wasn’t impressed if he was a good kisser or not. The dancer married several times but now she found the dream man and now wanted the dream home. During one of her visits to my office, I was celebrating a wedding anniversary. I was taken aback when she asked me a personal question. What is the secret to a long- lasting marriage? I replied: “respect.” Ephesians 5:33 says” each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Women want to be loved and men want to be respected. Sounds simple right? Ask any married couple. It is not easy to do. Our 39th wedding anniversary is today! We are still working at this Biblical principle!...

I'm Going as Abigail This Year

I vote for more purses, toothbrushes, cups, storybooks, and Halloween costumes that feature Abigail of the Old Testament.  She is a heroin worthy to emulate, in my opinion, even more than Cinderella. Once upon a time, there was a kind woman by the name of Abigail who lived with a surly man who liked to drink a lot and have parties.  One time, King David and his army were very hungry and entered the surly man’s homestead and asked if they could come to his barbecue.  The king had a right to ask because he and his men protected the homestead’s boundary lines.  The surly man said “No.  Get off my property.”  The King had a temper and became offended. Surly drunk + spiteful King = War In the meantime, Abigail heard about the situation and spent hours baking cinnamon rolls for the King and his army.  She dismounted from her horse and presented the King with her peace offering.  She bowed low and greeted the King and asked his forgi...
