I
admit it. I’m a news junkie. The reason? I love America. I feel blessed to live in this nation. I’ve been privileged to travel abroad and
like so many Americans, I’ve returned home to embrace the beauty of this
land. My heart flows with gratitude to
live in a free country. I appreciate our
rich history of men and women who feared God and passionately shaped our nation
with courage and faith.
Getting
back to cable news, I’m frustrated when some of our leaders approve policies
that lack integrity and promote a New Age agenda that scoffs at Christianity
which our nation was founded on. It’s against
the law to destroy the eggs of a bald eagle but it’s ok to destroy the fetus in
a woman? Personally, my blood boils when
I watch crooked politicians opening up the door to oppression rather than
supporting our foundational principles.
Our borders are far from secure, suspicious emails go missing and the
same standards of taxation expected of citizens do not apply to our
leaders.
The
answer is not in bashing anyone. In fact
I’m encouraged today. This morning I
studied the first chapter of Ephesians.
I’m remembering that Jesus is above every power and every principality
and dominion. His Name is higher than
every name that’s named!
So
who is really in control? God, bless America once again.
21 Now he is far above
any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this
world but also in the world to come. 22 God
has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all
things for the benefit of the church. 23 And
the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all
things everywhere with himself. Ephesians
1:21-23

Mary, I am grateful for your post. If we do not continually bring to the forefront the Christian/Judeo beliefs on which our country was founded, we will be crushed under the rampant falsehood that pervades our society. Thank you, too, for the Scripture that shows God IS above all authority!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting at my place.
Blessings,
Janis
Wonderful post, Mary. I particularly like your first paragraph.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a news junkie, but have shied away - to temper my anger and frustration ...perhaps to just save my own sanity!
Thank you for the reminder, God is in Control.
Wonderful post! Hope you have a blessed weekend.

HI Mari! Trust is such a hard grace in the face of so much negativity. But as you said, we have to remember who the King is around here...and he will make us like him, if we ask.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

I needed to hear this today as I was mentally exhausted more and more...Not only every time I work but in what we hear from the news. Same thing with hubby. We get so frustrated with what's going on. The hard part? Is to continue to choose to do what is right...for Him...May we all be remaining strong in the Lord's mighty power. God bless sister and love to you.
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder. When I read the news, I always try to remind myself that God is in control, and that eventually history is leading to the final days. I am consoled only by knowing to whom I belong, and that one day He will make it all right again.
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS!
So well said Mary. You and Debbie at Heart Choices are right on the same page tonight. I am right there with you! I have to re-focus my own discouragement and anger many times, back to the source of real change. HE is in control, and what on earth would we do if we didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteThe world is actually getting worse with all the godliness..but thanks God. He still rules. Everything happens for a reason. Just be aware that we too will not be infected.
ReplyDeleteHugs from.me:)
Glad I got to read this today, Mary. This is the sentiment of the majority of a nation who still embrace common sense and the facts of who we are and where we came from.
ReplyDeleteThanks for standing up for and by the Spirit that gives us breath.
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord!"
Your post made me want to stand up and sing our countries national song. After living overseas for years at a time to arrive back into the states and see the flag flying is about the most moving experience I have ever had. With all it's problems we are the only country people risk their lives by getting into a small boat to get to our shores or cross a border with the threat of death dogging them. I don't ask the Lord to bless us anymore as a country but to bless me with boldness to stand up for this freedom we have. God's will is already in the works for our country which should put a fire under us to get the name of Jesus out to all living around us. His flag is blood red and it's for everyone. Good heart felt post Mary.
ReplyDeleteMary, I one that typically avoids the news because it can be a bit depressing. But it is important to keep in the forefront of our minds that God is still remains in control. Blessings to you.
