How Do I Get Justice?

I never meet anyone who does not need mercy.  On the other hand, I never meet anyone who feels like it is a piece of cake to forgive.  I think the reason why forgiveness is such a popular topic is because we need it and we need to give it.  I stumbled across a website that targets forgiveness.  I’m linking up today to Find Your Voice, Make a Difference.

"Yes, hurt people do hurt people. But what's equally true is free people free people. And becoming free starts with being able to fully trust the loving care of God despite what we have possibly been through in our past." -- Pete Wilson

I love this quote because it leaves me with a choice.  Am I going to stay hurt and hurt or am I going to go deeper into being free and free others?

I reinforced my determination to seek deeper freedom this week when I watched John Paul Jackson’s new program, Dreams and Mysteries.  He taught exclusively about justice and how passionate God is to extend it to us, but first we must ask.  How do I stand in the throne room before Father God and ask him for justice as I watch my loved one face lies and betrayal in court.   Or how about when a close friend changes the rules of friendship and walks away, refusing to sit down face to face and talk about it?  How about when the enemy has overplayed his hand in business and I’ve been cheated on?   I need to make a claim for justice before God.

God is passionate about justice!  When these evil things happen to us, they are not from God.  And justice is not based on revenge.  It is based on God’s great love for us and He loves my enemies too!  It doesn’t surprise me that the first key in breakthrough is forgiveness!

Attacks come when the evil one intrudes upon us or it is we, ourselves, who open a door to evil through pride, greed, lust, guilt or fear.  To see the justice for what’s been done against us, we need to stand before God innocently and that only comes by applying the blood sacrifice of Jesus and doing our part…forgiving!  Then we need to wait and trust God’s timing for vindication.

This thought clinched it for me.  “Is anything unresolved?  This leads to anger.”   I don’t want unresolved conflict standing in the way of receiving justice.   Nor do I want my anger, my hurt to hurt.  No, I’m on a journey to forgive and be free so that when I’m around others, they’ll be free too.

  1. Yes , I had forgiven those who abused me and now totally free. They had been a tool that God used to mold me.
And I know that we can still get hurt and can hurt others too. So we need forgiveness as long as we live.
Thanks for God's given words sister:)
    Have a nice weekend!

  4. I was just going to say, "Powerful!" Your shares never fail to prompt me in some gentle manner ... there's lots to absorb here ... thank you!

For some reason, when I began to read my thoughts went back to last night's interview with Elizabeth Smart. Suppose I'm not the only one who's (pleasantly) AMAZED at her attitude and strength.

    Have a wonderful new week!

    Love,
    Myra

  7. Powerful post! The wisdom and passion read like the inscription across your heart. It is about using the free gift from our Father of free will to choose to honor Him. He'll take care of the rest. I long for mercy... justice scares me...

I'm praying for you and your family and thanks for the lesson and reminder.

  8. This is the second post I've read this morning about forgiveness. I know that Lord is speaking to my heart about some hurts that I am carrying right now. And I know He knows how they're weighing me down.

I am praying for Him to give me the strength to forgive the person that has hurt me - especially when I don't want to do it.

    GOD BLESS.

The Venomous Intruder

It’s the middle of rattlesnake season here on the ranch.  The local news anchor confirmed it.   I’ve seen two already.    While driving along our dirt road yesterday, I mistook a virulent enemy for a branch. I backed up the car, looked again and noticed the branch shifted revealing a rattle at its end. At one of our road association meetings in the barn, Shelby stood up and shouted, “ BOB !” to my next door neighbor.  He’s our vice president and the one all eyes were on as he gave a presentation in the middle of the room.  I sensed fear in the way she yelled his name.  I learned after the meeting that Shelby called out to him like that because she saw a rattler slither in the barn door where she and I sat.  Bob yielded to the interruption and quietly dispatched the enemy.  Ten minutes later, this tough guy was back to center stage falling right back in step with the business at hand.   Bob is my new best friend. ...

A Memorial Day Reflection

Memorial Day is always noteworthy for me and my girls.  Next Thursday marks the third year of missing their father, my husband. So many thoughts  run through my mind.  The journey of loss takes on various emotions.  The strongest feeling, at first, was emptiness.  In a split second, I would forget he departed forever.  I imagined things I needed to talk to him about when he got back home.  My mind is realistic now.  He's not coming back.  There will be no more times of sitting on the porch swing together on the front deck staring at the moon and the stars.  He would tell me all he knew about the majestic night sky. I have so much I wish I could tell him, like the excitement of seeing our oldest grandchild make a decision to follow Jesus and get baptized on Mother's Day!  And our little Amy, 11 years old, I wish he could have seen her on stage receiving her induction to the National Honor Society. Our daughters have their own ...

Hearts for the Kingdom Author Interview

When I finished reading Hearts for the Kingdom last week, I contacted the author, Cho Larson.   We talked about the book and he graciously agreed to be my guest today.  Together we hope to inspire you in your journey of faith to pursue God with a heart that is alive and beating for the Kingdom of God. Mary:  Cho, when I finished your book, I felt loved and very close to my Savior. Cho:  I’m overwhelmed at the encouraging response to it. Mary:  How long did it take to write this book? Cho:  God works in mysterious ways. As I’ve observed God’s hand at work, it’s easy for me to picture Him as the Great Conductor, orchestrating everything in perfect harmony. Hearts for the Kingdom wasn’t my original plan, but after I sent another manuscript I was working on to my editor, while waiting for him to edit, the need became clear for a foundational book. This book required about six months to complete. Mary: as an author, what is the me...
