My friend, Lori, asked me: “What do you think you’ll be cooking for the Labor Day weekend?” I think I will tell her “Redneck Turtle Burgers.”
This is a recipe I got from a gal in Missouri who has a great sense of humor!
She forms ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, then the next step, is to add hot dogs as the heads, legs with slits for toes and tail.
Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees.
A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?
Wishing all of you a fun and safe Labor Day weekend! This post links to Kim, hostess of Friday Funnies.
Lol! Those look AWESOME! I wonder how long it takes to weave that bacon into place...What a neat idea!

ReplyDeleteHow clever (and funny)!
ReplyDeleteOur kids all have plans, so hubby & I are going to spend a little time on our boat, perhaps take a hike near Mt. Rainier, and otherwise be lazy. We have some beautiful days to enjoy; days that will quickly give way to Fall's chill. Even now I can smell it in the air.
Enjoy your holiday!
