Spiritual Sunday

This, of course, is not a picture of my dinner table taken on Thanksgiving! It is a table set in the presence of my enemies, a favorite verse of mine in Psalm 23:5. Matthew Henry comments about this verse: The Lord's people feast at his table, upon the provisions of his love. Satan and wicked men are not able to destroy their comforts, while they are anointed with the Holy Spirit, and drink of the cup of salvation which is ever full. Thank you, Charlotte and Ginger, for hosting Spiritual Sundays , a place of great encouragement.

Friday Funnies

Thank you, Kim, for hosting Friday Funnies , a great place to find health and humor and not take this life too seriously (it's not permanent, you know!)

Thankful Thursday ~ Life

The Spirit of God has made me, The breath of the Almighty gives me life. Job 33:4 I pause on this journey called "life" and give thanks today first to Father God who gave His only Son so that I can have life and have it to the full! I thank Jesus for healing that flows from Him. My daughter is recovering from her illness and I know God is restoring her joy. I, too, am trying to help her smile. I took her to Mission Beach and encouraged her to ride "Chaos", a fun amusement ride that helps forget all the chaos that life sometimes brings. Thankful Thursday is hosted by Iris at Grace Alone . Her chosen theme today is Life.

A Simple Woman's Daybook ~ Nov. 16

Outside My Window... a tree lined canyon that allows a wonderful cross breeze in the home. I Am Thinking... about Pastor Miles McPherson's sermon at the Rock Church yesterday and how he described Jesus as the living logos, the living word and how every need, every answer to any situation or relationship is found in the Bible. I Am Thankful For... my daughter's neighbors on this street and how they all help one another like one big caring family! I Am Wearing... my grey sweatpants and a coral tee shirt. No shoes! I Am Remembering... the conversation I had with my DH yesterday afternoon on the phone. He found a seller of a used crib at church and purchased it. However, it needs assembling and he wasn't too thrilled about all the pieces layed out on the back deck while we were on the phone. I Am Going... to a puppet show at the San Diego library for toddlers tomorrow. I Am Reading... The Overcomer's Anointing by Barbara J. Yoder. I Am Hoping... that my daughter, my friends

Spiritual Sunday

But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:6 The pharmacist told my daughter that the excessive vomiting reaction from medication requires hospital emergency care. How could she go to the hospital? Who would care for Susanna? The neighbor across the street forfeited three hours of sleep before going to work to feed the baby and put her to bed. Another neighbor dropped off some Pedilayte and Gatorade. Others wanted to help too, but one had the flu, another just had surgery and couldn't get out of bed, and another was over 90. That's when my husband frantically searched the airlines to find me a seat on the next available flight. I packed my suitcase. I heard his command to make a decision right now. He found one available seat left on a flight. Do I want it? "Yes," I replied..."No," and then "Should I?" "Never mind," he exclaimed. He booked it. W

Friday Funnies

A couple who were both 98 years old and were lovers since high school filed today for divorce. When asked why they waited so long to get divorced, they said they wanted to wait until all the children were dead. Jay Leno For more Friday Funnies, visit Kim at Homesteader's Heart.

Thankful Thursday ~ Military/Veterans

Let Christ’s peace rule in your hearts…and be thankful. My husband served two tours in Viet Nam. Today, a few members of our family, and also a co-worker, called him to thank him for his service. He was grateful for their sentiments. What a different attitude today than back in the 60’s when people harassed him for his service to our great country. My thoughts of thankfulness intensified as I pondered our military theme for Thankful Thursday. I, too, want to express my thanks to all who served our country and fought for our freedoms. I’m thankful for my savior, Jesus Christ. His passionate love for mankind and obedience to die on the cross so I can be free is something I never want to take for granted. Talk about freedom! I’m thankful that Jesus heals today. My daughter has been battling a cold for over a week. I’m thankful that she was able to get into her doctor’s office yesterday and I’m thankful that a compassionate neighbor down the street was able to watch Susanna for her. My d

The Simple Woman's Daybook ~November 9th Edition

Outside My Window... I see an empty parking lot with no cars parked with eager-to-buy customers. Sigh. I Am Thinking... I have been unsuccessful finding a used baby crib at the thrift stores and garage sales. I Am Thankful For... The prayer time with my DH this morning using Stormie Omartian's books praying for your spouse. I Am Wearing... Tan slacks and a black top and a beige sweater. I Am Remembering... all the exercise I got stacking firewood that my DH cut yesterday afternoon. The joy of country living. I Am Going... To the beauty shop tomorrow to get my hair cut and colored! Yippe. I Am Reading... 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper I Am Hoping... for a big cash sale this week. Can you tell? On My Mind... my family in the midwest and all the pretty colors of fall at this time of year. From the Learning Rooms... realizing again the significance of my faith as I ask Jesus to heal many I'm praying for and do miracles for my family and friends just like in the gospel of Mark

Friday Funnies

Two tourists were driving through Louisiana. As they were approaching Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth until they stopped for lunch. As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the employee, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are...very slowly? The cashier leaned over the counter and said, "Burrrrrr, gerrrrr, Kiiinnnggg." To enjoy more humor, visit Kim at Homesteader’s Heart . Let me also mention that Kim will be hosting a recipe exchange on her cooking blog next week for those of you who like to try new recipes for Thanksgiving. Should be fun! I'm looking forward to participating with my cooking blog.

Thankful Thursday ~ Trials

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you are involved in various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. James 1:2,3 Being a thankful person did not come easy to me. I can remember when I was a young girl and my mom would tell me to smile more and not take life so seriously. It seemed like everything frustrated me. Things didn’t change until I met Jesus. I was set free and thankfulness took on a whole new meaning. I felt thankful for everything. I saw the world in a whole new way. I named my blog Pile of Smiles because Jesus gave me my smile back. I hoped this place would be a place of encouragement for others to stop by and be refreshed. But I’ll tell you, it’s been the other way around as well! I’m very thankful for the wonderful Christian friends I’ve met on line who inspire me with their heartfelt writings. I am thankful for the way people care about one another offering uplifting words and prayers. I’ve been going through a difficult trial o
