Over the Top Award

I was honored to receive the Over the Top blog award from Debbie, of Heart Choices . Debbie is more than an on-line friend, but also a sister in the Lord whom I’ve met in person. I cherish her. I got a kick out of reading Debbie’s answers to this little quiz and I’m eager to play along. Here are the rules (I hate that word; LOL): 1. You can use only one word! 2. Holding On To His Right Hand...Again

“Today would be a great day to be raptured,” I thought as I sat in the dentist’s chair facing a temporary crown. It was a big filling in a molar that I’ve had since I was six! I gasped when I saw the x-ray. The crack in the tooth was just a smidge above the nerve! I said “No thanks” to the magazines offered while I waited for the numbing process and prayed instead. I asked God to fill me with peace and my body relaxed. We went ahead with the procedure and so far, so good! Fear is something I’ve struggled with all my life. Timidity is the downside of the wonderful temperament I was born with. It helps to understand your quirks when you take the personality test. I have been enjoying reading The Magoos News ; Loren really understands the beauty of relationships. I encourage you to read her post entitled: How Well Do You Know Yourself/Your Spouse. She offers the personality test, too. I’ve come a long way, but there’s work to be done when it comes to facing fear. You’ve got t

Spiritual Sunday

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worth of praise, And I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18: 2,3 These are the words of David and he sang them to the Lord when he was delivered from Saul and his enemies. These are my words today, too. I know I can take refuge in God, my rock. The photo of Coffee Pot Mountain was taken last weekend when my girlfriend, Peggy, hiked in Sedona. Have a wonderful Sunday, my friends. May the Lord bless you richly. Sundays are inspiring at Spiritual Sundays , thanks to Charlotte and Ginger.

Friday Funnies

I love Fridays at Homesteader's Heart where Kim gathers up a bunch of funnies to end our week on a lighter note. Have a good weekend everyone!

Thankful Thursday ~ Simplicity

For years the research has shown the most popular flavor of ice cream is plain old vanilla. I remember shopping with my dad several years ago and stopping for an ice cream cone with him at Baskin Robbins. He ordered vanilla and they were out! We had a good laugh. Oh, the simple things in life! I, on the other hand, had so many choices of ice cream I wanted to try, I didn’t know what I wanted. Today, I’m thinking of the simple things in life and thanking God for them. I’m thankful for the foundational truth of the gospel. Jesus said: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 It’s simple, but it’s profound. There’s a lot of fancy, elaborate religions out there, but Jesus made it so simple. He invites us into a relationship with Him and promises us life everlasting. He offers abundant life to me today and also tomorrow and forever. For me, this truth never gets old. I’m thankful for

Lunch in Jerome

Jerome is a ghost town located in the Mingus Mountains in Arizona, 10 miles from our home. It is a mile-high city, just over 5,000 ft. high and it’s pretty at night when we see the lights in the distance. We refer to it as “the twinkling city in the sky”. Jerome was popular in its day as a mining town. My husband and I took the afternoon off and enjoyed walking around the town a few days ago. We stopped for lunch at the Haunted Hamburger. It’s romantic to sit out on the outside deck and look out at the view of the Verde Valley. I bought two flavors of fudge at one of the shops: Butter Pecan and Chocolate! It was fun to get away from our routine and join the tourists!

Spiritual Sunday

Psalm 148 1 Give praise to the Lord. Let the Lord be praised from the heavens: give him praise in the skies. 2 Give praise to him, all you his angels: give praise to him, all his armies. 3 Give praise to him, you sun and moon: give praise to him, all you stars of light. 4 Give praise to him, you highest heavens, and you waters which are over the heavens. 5 Let them give praise to the name of the Lord: for he gave the order, and they were made. 6 He has put them in their places for ever; he has given them their limits which may not be broken. 7 Give praise to the Lord from the earth, you great sea-beasts, and deep places: 8 Fire and rain of ice, snow and mists; storm-wind, doing his word: 9 Mountains and all hills; fruit-trees and all trees of the mountains: 10 Beasts and all cattle; insects and winged birds: 11 Kings of the earth, and all peoples; rulers and all judges of the earth: 12 Young men and virgins; old men and children: 13 Let them give glory to the name of the L

It's Friday and time to laugh! Thank you, Kim, at Homesteader's Heart , for hosting and encouraging us to have some fun.

Thankful Thursday ~ His Masterpiece

For we are God's masterpiece, created in the Messiah Jesus to do good works that God prepared long ago to be our way of life. Eph 2:10 Laurie, Women Taking a Stand , is hosting Thankful Thursday today and encouraging us to consider who God says we are in His Word, which is his “masterpiece.” When the circumstances in my life seem out of control, I feel like anything but His masterpiece. However, God knew us in the womb. He approved of us. He chose us; we are handpicked by God himself. He has a special purpose uniquely designed for each one of us. If we keep our focus on Him and do not lose faith, His plan for us will come to pass. Nothing can stop it! And it will be a good plan! I’m thankful for that. I’m thankful for the masterpieces this week that were placed in my life. Our church is participating in a week of 7 days of 24 hours of prayer. I was in the sanctuary early Tuesday morning for my appointed hour. It was quiet, and I had just finished telling the Lord how wonderful He i

A Whole Lot of Shaking Going On!

Is it just me or do you see a lot of shaking going on among us these days? It amazes me how so many lives turn upside down in just a matter of minutes. Last Thursday I was driving into town to get groceries when the dark rain clouds threatened overhead. You learn to go on with life where I live in Arizona because “isolated” thunderstorms are just that…they hit where they want to and sometimes it is right before your eyes. That’s what happened in Sedona that day and the west section of town got five inches of rain in a quick downpour. Many visiting a resort lost their cars to the rage of water. I heard about this storm on the news (photo). Oddly, when I got home that day, there was not a drop of rain; I’m about 12 miles, as a crow flies, from Sedona. This morning, my friend, Sue, sent an email about a little 8 year old boy, Sam, who lives in the Midwest. His constant knee pain last month turned out to be an aggressive stage 4 cancer and his family’s lives changed overnight. All it takes

Spiritual Sundays

A friend sent me a cute poem this week that originated from http://www.thejesuslist.com/ so if you're a working person or a busy person, I think you will enjoy it: Psalm 23 For The Workplace The Lord is my real boss, and I shall not want. He gives me peace when chaos is all around me. He gently reminds me to pray and do all things without murmuring and complaining. He reminds me that He is my source and not my job. He restores my sanity every day and guides my decisions, that I might honor Him in all I do. Even though I face absurd amounts of emails, system crashes, unreaslistic deadlines, Budget cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors And an aging body that doesn't cooperate every morning, I still will not stop; for He is with me. His presence, His peace and His power will see me through. He raises me up, even when they fail to promote me. He claims me as His own even when the company threatens to let me go. His faithfulness and love is better than any bon

Friday Funnies

A cute poem was sent to my email and I want to share it with you today. For more smiles, be sure to go to Kim's at Homesteader's Heart . Have a great day everyone! Cleaning Poem I asked the Lord to tell me why my house is such a mess. He asked if I'd been 'computering' and I had to answer 'yes.' He told me to get off my fanny, and tidy up the house. And so I started cleaning up...The smudges off my mouse.. I wiped and shined the topside. That really did the trick... I was just admiring my good work. I didn't mean to 'click.' But click, I did, and oops - I found a real absorbing site I got SO way into it -I was into it all night. Nothing's changed except my mouse. It's very, very shiny. I guess my house will stay a mess.....While I sit here on my hiney.

Childlike Faith on Board!

We’ve all seen the cutesy “Child on Board” signs suctioned to cars warning us to drive carefully as we follow in traffic. My comparison today is that it’s good to get on board with childlike faith. I can’t really say I’m a “poster child” for trust when it comes to my trials and challenges in life, but I’m determined to keep learning how to trust God when life gets tough. How can childlike faith function in me when I’m under stress? 1. Obedience is required! In Genesis 22: 1-18, Abraham’s example of sacrificing his one and only son shows me his resolve to obey. I have always been grateful for Abraham’s keen ability to hear the angel of the Lord when his obedience was completed and his son was spared. Then I remember Jesus, who gave His life on the cross. I never want to take that sacrifice for granted; my levels of trust and hope grow when I think of what He did for me. 2. Believing is required! In Mark 9: 20-25, Jesus healed the boy with a mute spirit. When the family asked for compass

Spiritual Sundays

The mind is like a clock that is constantly running down. It has to be wound up daily with good thoughts. Fulton J. Sheen Christian television has come such a long way! I’m strolling down memory lane today and I'm recalling how my mom would watch Life is Worth Living, a religious tv program, taught by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. I was very young, but remember how she looked forward to it the way I eagerly watch Enjoying Everyday Life with Joyce Meyer these days. I was too little to comprehend the teachings, but I loved the serenity that filled our home at those times. Fulton Sheen was a big proponent of drawing away for quiet times with the Lord and he encouraged his listeners to do likewise. Here are some of his quotes to make you smile: I feel it is time that I also pay tribute to my four writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Hearing nuns' confessions is like being stoned to death with popcorn. The big print giveth, and the fine print taketh away . What always amazed me as a

Her Testimony of Faith

I had one of those “divine appointments” this morning as I got ready for work. Christian TV was on and I listened to an amazing testimony of a woman who went through a difficult time of spiritual warfare. I put my makeup down and got up from my dressing table and sat in front of the TV; my interest was piqued. The courageous woman testified about our Lord and how he knows where we are and what we are facing! After she spoke, her pastor encouraged the rest of us to trust in God who never leaves us and longs to heal us and deliver us. He quoted a promise in the Bible I’ve been basing my faith on for weeks! The woman’s testimony is the same as my present trial and I sat there amazed at the goodness of God to let me meet her this way and hear how He rescued her. I called the ministry’s prayer line and was connected to a passionate sister in Christ who understood the evil of spiritual warfare. Our time of prayer was blessed with hope and vision. This warrior had eyes to see in prayer the m
