Blog-Tag: A Game for a Virtual Meet-n-Greet

I’m new to the blogging world but am enjoying meeting people especially different from me so I can learn new things! Today Kay invited me to play blog-tag. I found Kay through a common Yada Yada book interest and admire her creativity and her love and dedication to her family. She is a keeper, for sure! I log on to her blog, Dream Big , often because I need to laugh and not take myself so seriously. Kay has no idea what her personality does for mine! Now, on to this business of being tagged. My name is Mary and I’ve been married to my main squeeze for 37 years. We are opposite: he’s adventurous and I’m steady. I think the best description of myself is to quote my daughter, Carrie, who, back in college, invited a friend home for the holidays. When asked, “What is your mother like?” Carrie responded: “She’s a cross between Mary Tyler Moore and Donna Reed. Enough said. My philosophy in life is that you reap what you sow. My goal is to bring God glory in this life by usi

Thankful Thursday ~ Random

I look so forward to Thursdays and reading the heartfelt posts at Grace Alone . The Holy Spirit has been nudging me to be a more thankful person lately and it has become easier with so many sisters in the Lord sharing their hearts. My heart soars and I feel like I’m at an amusement park enjoying the rides with everybody. I’m thankful for the warm weather this week. I’ve been able to complete some outdoor projects on my house in time for the holidays. However, I developed an ear problem and couldn’t hear in one ear. My husband laid his hands on my ears and prayed. I took a decongestant and went to bed and was fine the next day, plus my long enduring digestive problem cleared up! The Lord is my healer and I thank Him. I’m thankful for our new pastor promoted from the ranks. I’m thankful for the powerful prayer time we had with him last Sunday. His wife has a dynamic prayer life and I’m thanking God for her influence on my life. I’m thankful for the two surprise generous checks

Growing

I found this cute little onesie five weeks ago thinking "it may be a while before she fits into this" and amazingly, Susanna is thriving!

Reaching for Paradise

I’m so glad that we are focusing on eternal life this week at Grace Alone . Chances are I won’t get to meet Iris and all my blog sisters in this life, but oh, what a great bloggers meeting we will have in our heavenly home. All week I’ve been hearing a repetitive theme and it shoots like an arrow right to my heart. “Give thanks for your enemies; adversity is the tool God uses to promote and bless you.” First, I heard a speaker on Christian television that admonished us to come up a step higher thanking God for our enemies for it is our enemies, not our gifts that make us overcomers. He who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give to eat from the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Rev. 2:7. Secondly, in her Total Transformation series, Joyce Meyer blows kisses to her enemies from the early days of her ministry. She says that their rejection of her made her who she is today, an overcomer. Lastly, the

Change for Good

Change has come to our household. I heard Newt Gingrich once talk about change for the sake of change. He mentioned that you have to ask yourself if this change you desire is for good. We are news junkies in our family. Last week Tom suggested that we limit ourselves to one news program in the morning and one at night. I agreed. We have more time now! We’ve even done a few Bible studies together before going to work this past week. In the evenings, we’re reading more. Sometimes we listen to music and read. It’s easier to think around here! I laughed one night when Tom tuned into The Big Joe’s Polka Show. I loved it! Polka dancing is such fun dancing. Everybody looks jolly. Two women can dance together and it looks okay. I say that this has been a good change. It makes me happy. It's hard to stay in a rut when you're open to change.

Thankful Thursday

That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works. Psalm 26:7 I can't think of a better time to shed my political sadness and put a smile on my face and join Iris, and her blogger followers . for Thankful Thursday. I'm thankful that I live in this nation. I am thankful that all the campaigning is over and that no delays prevented us from electing our next president. I'm thankful for the privilege of voting and for the many volunteers who worked at the polls. I'm thankful that I live where I can vote my conscience without any person intimidating me to vote for only their candidate. I'm thankful for our country that has grown from slavery to electing an African American for president even though I do not share his world view. I'm thankful for the amazing power of prayer. Lastly, I'm thankful for the sovereignty of God who sits on His throne regardless of how good or bad rulers are

Eternal Friendship

Knowing Brigette, my Pastor's wife, has been one of God's special blessings in my life. Her leadership and friendship to the women in our church has set us ladies free to be healed and loved by God and each other to a deeper degree. Pastor Dana, Brigette, and their boys have accepted their next ministry challenge in Tucson, AZ, and today our congregation said goodbye in a most creative way. I used a half package of klennex as touching prayer blessings were spoken over this wonderful first family of Cottonwood Christian Assembly. It was hilarious when the leaders roasted each one of them and the drama skits about them made you laugh out loud. Afterwards, the leaders cooked up a Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey and trimmings for everybody. Side dishes arrived and the dessert table spread the length of one wall. I am full. But I'm full not only physically, but spiritually. And, I'm reflecting about how transitions in life remind me that I'm not home ye
